Hello,
I want to buy a new Spyderco and I'm thinking about the Manix 2 or the XL or last but not least the Paramilitary 2.
I need it for outdoor use ,not for something abusive but in the same time a knife that can perform in a survival situation.

The tip of the PM2 might be more suited for EDC use than survival use, It has a pronounced distal taper and clip point, resulting in a very fine tip. Also, they are moderately difficult to locate at the moment. I don't have any personal experience with the Manix series.

I recommend picking up a Southard Flipper. Folders are great, but for a true "survival" knife go for a fixed blade.

I have fixed blades and some spydies and some other folders I just want to add a new folder to the rotation.
And the southard is out of my price range.

If the Southard is out of your price range then I would go with the Para 2.

Manix 2 great great knife,a little hefty but awesome

I Like it better than my para 2

Don't know what your price range is, but my preference for a outdoors Spyderco folder would be the Gayle Bradley. Very tough, very sharp, easy to maintain. I've never liked any of the Manix series. They just don't carry or handle well for me.

my price range is up to 150$

The GB has my vote too. It's a Fantastic knife. 1 of the best Spyderco have ever made IMO.

It doesn't have a choil to keep your finger away from the blade, that's never been an issue for me and a lot of other guys too as far as I know.

A little on the heavy side but it's strong and can be really used. A couple guys have posted threads about how they've used the GB for some really HD work.

The cpm 4 steel is tough, maintains a sharp edge, and is easy to sharpen.

What more could you want/need in a knife.

+1 for the Gayle Bradley if you want something to stand up to possible survival duty. Not that I would pick ANY folder for batoning duty, but the incredibly thick liner in the GB would hold up better that MANY other knives.

With what you posted, I'd say the Manix 2 (in S30V). However, I also own a Bradley (M4 steel) and would recommend either of the knives. The Bradley has better steel but it is not stainless, so you would have to maintain it. The Manix 2 is less expensive, has a stickier grip due to the G10, and has more aggressive jimping. It is up to you which you prefer, but you won't go wrong with either of them.

the para and military blade profiles are just about my favorite blades out there. Only time the fine tip should be a problem is if you ate doing some very rough piercing or deep cuts into a hard material where you might twist or put lateral force on it. otherwise the to makes a lot of chores easier.

The Gayle Bradley seems to have a bit tougher blade profile, and the steel is amazing. True, it's not stainless but it is extremely stain resistant compared to traditional carbon steels. I literally worked outside in thunderstorms, rode my bike through the rain, sweat so much that the knife would drip, and then I would often leave it sitting in the wet clothes without wiping it down and the blade barely spotted. Either I'm the luckiest guy in the world when it comes to rust, or people grossly exaggerate just how much care is needed to keep it serviceable.
