Hey guys.
I am starting my collection back up and am really wanting a large sebbie. I owned a new small 21 in the past but sold it off because I babied it. (I know, I know)

I am thinking about buying a user but I have a few questions.
How important are the box and card?
There is a large classic micarta that I am interested in but it has neither. No tool or cloth either.
The knife looks to be in good condition, so I am just wondering.

Is the box and paper really that important? *edited for TOS*
Thanks guys.

Hello madman44--regarding values--you need to be a Gold member to inquire on values.

Regarding box and cloth--my preference is to have the box, papers, cloth, etc. But it is just that--preference.

I don't personally care if the knife comes with box and papers, so long as it comes from a seller with a good reputation. The box and papers might be worth a few bucks one way or the other. I care about the condition of the knife when I'm looking at users regarding the price.

If its going to be a user I wouldn't mind if it doesn't have papers/box if I'm getting a better deal since it doesn't have a box.
If he's asking the same as others with a box I would pass and get one with a box.

Even as a user, I want the box and birthcard. They are important to me. Without the box and birthcard, as was stated above me, the seller needs to have a great reputation and it needs to be a substantial discount. I am weird about it though.

Exactly how I feel. I like having the box/papers because I know I can always send it to the spa, and box it up and it'll be like new again. That said, I really wouldn't mind picking up a good user at a substantial discount...

Thanks for the replies, guys.
I agree about reputation being key. The guy has over 200 transactions and 100% feedback but I did find it weird that he didn't respond when I asked to pick up the knife in person (I live near him) and save him the fee's and me the wait. But then again, I'm kind of glad because then I wouldnt have the benefit of buyer protection.

I believe a lot of it is preference. But the only thing I would really want is the birth card. Reason being, I could always order a new cloth and ask CRK for a new box- of it was that important to me.

I guess as long as it's a legit CRK.

Well, I went ahead and pulled the trigger. I'll post pics as soon it gets here.
Btw, I may be confused about this. But is a birth card necessary when sending it in to the spa?

Its nice to have everything, but it is not necessary. I have many that are beautiful pieces that have neither, but would command a little more if they did. Its no big deal really. As long as its a Genuine CRK, that is what matters most.

There are so many available with birth card, box, etc that without a substantial discount I wouldn't be interested.
Same with watches and other items. Unless it's a great deal from someone with excellent feedback and numerous transactions, I'll spend a little more and get all the goodies.

Not too many regulars floating around anymore. And if they are they are hardly at a "substantial" discount... Same for classics. Most of the new models can be found without a problem though.

Most of the used large micarta sebenzas go for over $400 (with box, etc.). And over $500 new. I think I got a good deal as long as its as described. And all this talk of fake authenticity is making me anxious, lol. Although I've never seen a fake classic before.
