I'm looking to buy an 810 and wanted some guidance to help make up my mind.

I'm not sure if I want the black Cerakoted 810, or the Knifeworks Exclusive in M390.

I'm a big M4 fan and love it in my Gayle Bradley, so I know I'd love it in the 810.

Also, I only have a few black blades. Most of my stuff is satin or stonewashed, etc., so I wouldn't mind mixing it up and getting another black one.

Oh, and the M390 is about $35 more, and lacks the glass breaker, which may not be a must have, but it certainly is neat.

What do y'all think??

I always pick limited first over production, because you can always pick up the production down the road, may not be so for the limited. In this case I like the extra smoothness of the action with the uncoated blade, the blue over plain black and the polished handle of the limited. Both are great steels, M390 will have a little better edge holding and stainlessness, M4 will have plenty of edge holding and be tougher. I got both :)

Never been there, but I'm guessing Arizona doesn't have the most humid climate. If that's true, I'd go with the M4. Seems to hold the fine edge better, chips less, and long-retention on both are similar (it's also tougher if that matters, but the blade is such a thick chunk of steel, I don't think it's much of a consideration).

Also, if you watch the exchange you might be able to pick up one for the price it was at 6 months ago before the Benchmade name tax was added, so about $120.

Thanks for the input! :)

I'm leaning towards the standard model, actually. The steels are comparable in terms of edge holding, with the M4 being undoubtedly more tough, which is a plus. Also, the lack of the glass-breaker isn't that big of a deal, like I said, but just an additional nod for the standard model.

But you're right, I'll probably end up with both, but I'm going to do my best to just limit myself to one of these for now :o fingers crossed

I went for the M4 version. Found one online for a great price.

Thanks for the input all!
