Buying Blades at Blade

I've heard conflicting stories re: buying blades at blade. I've heard that some mfgr's don't sell there, because dealers are selling there, etc. There was a thread about this recently, and I searched but I cant find it. What's the story? There's a couple of things I wanted to get at Blade, but now am thinking that may not be possible, and I might should get them ahead of time. Is a grand amount of stuff available? Is everything MSRP?

If the answer was posted in the other thread that I cant find, please point me there.

Thanks.

Hello, Danielle

Some manufacturers won't sell directly to retail customers, some others djust don't have their latest pieces ready to sell, only protos, but from y experience most everything can be found at the retailers' tables and booths.
All it takes is some time to look for what you want, but sometimes the manufacturer will readily tell you which delaer has the stuff you want in stock. The newest stuff will go for MSRP or a little over that ammount, though.

Danny.
Most manufactuors who do sell, sell at retail. (Keeps them on good terms with their distributors and dealers).
There is a lot of competition as far as the dealers (you have quite a few under one roof), you will be able to find pretty much any current production knives at good prices and will occasionally find a fantastic price.

If it is in production, the odds are great that you will find several dealers selling the knife. Keep in mind this is the biggest knife show in the world and as far as production pieces you will not have a problem finding what you want at a decent price. (Same goes for out of production.)

Being the old pro that I am, having been to a whopping 6 or 7 knife shows now...

I have my 'list', the items I'm specifically looking for, and...
makers whom I wish to speak with...knives I want to 'feel' before I buy...and a little 'extry' cash for any really cool knives I come across...

So, this is the way it works for me: If I find what I'm looking for, and the price is right, I buy it. At that point I'm usually broke, and the buying is done.

Then, I start looking for 'stuff' that I'll buy down the road...meeting folks, placing orders, and such.

All the 'best' deals on the internet always seem to come up just before a show, so it's hard not to buy them...but I don't, I take all my money to the show.

Most shows I still come home from with money though, and then I buy the knives I couldn't find at the show...lol

I see this thread's had about 56 views so far, so I'll ask another question:

To those going to Atlanta, what's on your list? I know there'll be similar discussion as the fervor increases to a crescendo in May.

I'm looking for a Denning or Hendrix fixed blade, a Chive, a Ti Mirage, and maybe a Sebenza. Mostly I just like watching the people. Where else can you go to be so close to so many "stars" and colorful character.
