Question about the logistics of buying a knife from a Canadian forumite - how does US customs get involved? Do they grab the knife & keep it until I come pay the duty? Do I need to fill out forms prior to making the purchase? Has anyone done this, what's the overall procedure? Tx - FF5

Over the years I have sold many knives to Americans and have never had a single complaint about having to pay any duties at all.Unfortunately the same can't be said about bringing knives or anything else "into" Canada. :(

No problems for you folks...Big problems for us:) I have sold knives with no problems to the US.
The problem arrises for us..if Customs can flick the knife open it is illegal. It has become more of a problem recently. They can confiscate knives coming into the country. You should have no problems. Take Care!!!

I have gotton many knives from many countries and have never had any dealings with US customs at all.
I did have the honor of haveing the last trade with Billious and while there were no customs to pay it did look to have been opened and searched several times before it got here.
I guess with the Tel Aviv address and 9/11 it should have been expected.

Ive traded a couple of knives with Canadians (crayola) and never had a problem. Average time to get here was about a week.
