I saw a nice 371 stockman at walmart for ~$14. Ive heard a lot about counterfeit bucks being a problem and just wanted to make sure if (brick and mortar, not online) walmart is a legitimate retailer for bucks or not.

They get their knives from Buck. Could be a clearance price, unless it’s an online return which was reshelved—in each case a different price sticker would be affixed.

Its brand new, and the price is the same on their online store.

online walmart is like Amazon. they sell and 3rd party sellers sell through their site. you can weed out 3rd parties by using their filter setup if you want to. walmart buys from buck and its distributors. so legit sources. 3rd party is riskier, but could be legit. good luck.

yes 371 is Chinese made right now.

The 371 is the Chinese made version of the 301 Stockman model. Both are Buck brand knives, just different countries of origin. The steel used by the Chinese Bucks is 420J I believe instead of the USA 420HC. Fit and finish, from what I understand is very good and comparable with the USA model.
For $14, I would try it out and see if you like it before spending the money on the USA model.

Thank you everyone. The whole "made in china" factor doesn't bother me all that much. I think I'm gonna pick it up tomorrow.

Yep, Walmart puts stuff on sale stupid cheap sometimes.
It's legitimate and just on sale for some reason.

The 371 at Wally's is ligit. (So is the 373 and 389 if you want to give them a try.)
Don't forget to grab another 110 while you are there. :)

The Buck 389 (canoe) at WalMart is nice for an inexpensive China made. I'm not aware of another retailer that carries that particular knife in a bone-handled version. Check it out while you're grabbing that 371.
