I have been thinking about this for awhile, and a comment in a current thread prompted me to start this thread.

I have nothing against GEC, I have 1 knife from them and it's a great tool.
I do however have a slight problem with the entire GEC buying situation.

I understand it's not an exclusive club and theres usually enough to go around for those who want bad enough or those on the eamail list or whatever it happens to be.
However because they are limited in production it does create a first come first serve situation , you have to either want one bad enough, strike while the iron is hot, or of course you gotta have the money at the right time.
Thst last one is only an issue if your hobby budget isn't also stretched across other hobbies, and you don't have a tendency to make spontaneous purchases towards your hobbies.

Aside from the rare occasion where things happen to line up, a knife has gotta be something that's available till the time is right for me to buy it unless it's pretty inexpensive.

There are a couple GEC's I can picture that I'd love to own if things were different, but I guess I just don't want them bad enough to do what it takes to get 'em.
It's my fault I know, I just didn't or don't want them enough or I'd make it happen.
But with Case and Buck I don't have to so thats what I stick with.

I hope it doesn't sound like I'm complaining here because that is not my intention, I just thought I'd present a few reasons why I and maybe others don't buy GEC.
I'd also like to discuss the GEC buying situation, whether it really is ideal or not and whether GEC could benefit from at least some degree of steady production.
