Well, being the Po Po I get to work lots of hours for little pay.
One thing is there are side jobs available that pay better than my standard hourly rate.
I use some of the money from these "side jobs" to buy my toys.
I also have a federal firearms license and a resale number this allows me to buy my toys at wholeslae prices and even get my customers to cover the shipping charges. :p

The downside is I'm always thinking of that next toy I just must to have. My wife is always looking at the boxes that come in on the brown truck and asking, Who ordered that ? How much did you make ? Are we going out to dinner ;) Man it's getting harder and harder to hide the stuff I order for myself!

Usually I'll stick the new toy in the safe for a week or two and when I take it out the wife or kids will ask is that new ? My answer is "no, I've had that for a while " ;)

How many of you here get into trouble with the "significant other" for buying new toys for the collection.

Pretty much every single time! We've been seperated for a while and she actually filed the papers yesterday.

During the interum, she asked "how much was that" every time she saw (or I showed) her a new knife.

My only consolation is that they all look pretty much the same to her, and she still has no idea what they REALLY cost.

My wife knows every purchase that I make ahead of time. I consult her on every one of them. I have no reason to hide anything from my wife. Honesty really is the best policy.

OK - I gotta be quick -here's the real deal...
Buy something for yourself. Hide it away for a few days, as suggested above. Take your wife or SO out for dinner. If you have really gone overboard on your own selfish, uncaring purchase - buy her some jewellery. If nothing else, it helps clear your conscience. Almost.

Another point - anything that you buy is ALWAYS on sale. Not just 5% off. All your purchases are AT LEAST 40% off the regular price. Not only are all your purchased items on sale, but they have SIGNIFICANT collector value, and will be worth triple what you paid for them in a couple years.

(Shane's wife re-enters room)

So you see guys, if you really loved your wife, you would NEVER have a reason to be deceitful or deceptive. Now, get off your butts, and go give your wives a big hug right now.

(Shane hugs his wife, and directs her away from the computer monitor).

I'm a few steps behind you, Mike. The hows are about all left to figure out. 25 years, and kaput, apparently. My wife hates knives, with an unholy passion. She has recently focused on my time on the forums as the proof positive of what's missing in our relationship. I know only that it is the way I get thru each day.

I hide the purchase until it arrives. Sometimes for quite awhile after. But, my son or daughter often betray me, and go prancing in to show her what I bought. Unfortunately, the last thing was one of Santi's E-Neps. I think she fears I got it to shorten the process.

my wife doesnt mind it, she actually likes knives - she has 'confiscated' several knives in the past (ie CRKT M16-00, GT 100411, and a CRKT small kasper pro) and today i got a kershaw ken onion chive, which she said was so cute, and stuck it in her pocket - i had it for all of maybe 5 minutes - so while no griping, she still has negatives, though i bet some of ya guys would trade my prob for yours - she's also into guns (has a concealed carry permit, carries a P225 9MM and a MOD ladyhawk, and now a chive tooo)) is 35, 5'4 110, blond/blu and 36C, and NOT for sale/trade - i guess i should consider myself very lucky, for darned sure....

Well, we're not married yet, but we've been happily living together for 18 months now. She totally supports my addiction.

Sometimes I go to my favourite local dealer, check out something new and then walk away to come back another day. I never buy on the spur-of-the-moment, but weigh up each purchase carefully. When I ask her for an opinion she always tells me that I work hard so I should spoil myself. I always feel bad cause spend more on my addiction than on her, so a new buy is followed with dinner or a porcelain doll or some kind of reward. I must just add that some of my purchases were funded from extra income earned by writing short articles for a local magazine, so I didn't feel bad about those.

Last year she bought me a knife for Christmas and we're heading in the same direction this year :D

Being a NEWBIE SUX. I have tried every line in the book. First, my wife thinks her $3.00 paring knife is all a person needs. Every time I use pay pal, she gets me, every time I go INSIDE the post office, she has got me. I even mailed thum studs from a Ryan Seven to Glockmann that turned upon the USPS "missing" list and my wife nailed me on the postage. So now I just buy whatever you guys write about and say is a good to great knife ( I am a NEWBIE, still into production knives) and when UPS stops at the house, i grab the package and just head out to my tent in the garage for my typical one-three week stay.....wolf:p

I have to get the money from my wife first because she takes care of the finaces.

I like her taking care of that, it's one less thing I have to do or worry about. But, at times it does make things difficult when I need extra money that I want to spend on her or for things that she considers a waste of money! Then it takes a little more effort for me to get the cash needed for the purchase.

My wife is one reason why I TRADE knives, rather than buy new ones.:D.

(I made the mistake of buying her a Glock M26, and teaching her how to shoot.:(.).

Slicer,

I have that brown truck coming to see me almost every day of the week, at least every other day, and my wife doesn't know who its for or where its going. Most of the time its something of mine, but she doesn't ask. I wonder if she really knows? Probably! Anyway, what I usually do, is rotate guns and knives from the house safe to the gun cabinet, and then to the safe at the gun shop, so she really has no idea what all I have. Or does she?
