Anyone have any idea wear I could get a sypderco or benchmade in the Philly area?

I'm thinking about going to Chinatown to look around for a balisong.

At one time I'd say I.Goldberg, but they're gone, and I don't know if they ever carried better knives.

There *might* be something at Asian World of Martial Arts, on Arch (last time I was there) but Spydies and Benchmades, most probably not.

Harry's Army/Navy has them, but it's in Burlington NJ, at least a half hour away.

The EMS and REI store (REI is in Conshohocken, outside the city limits)usually have something along these lines, but at a high price and very limited selection.

If you live in the area, there's a gun show at the Philly Armory several times a year, and several dealers who have those blades at good prices. And there is a gun range off Street Road(the name escapes me) that I recall had some Benchmades, albeit at high prices. But a very good store and range to try out some pistols...

If you do find something, please post it--I'd love to find some other places!

Save yourself some trouble and money and buy it online. I still like Classic Pistol, (other fun toys too), but they charge list. Dick in Franklin Mills carries a few knives, but not much. If you're in for a treat and a drive check out Country Knives in Intercourse,PA. Worth the trip!

I agree with marcangel, buy online. I used to live in that area, and couldn't find anyone with quality balis at a decent price, just lots of cheap junk or they were overpriced. Plenty of good deals online if you look.

Those two statements are very true indeed.

If money is the only consideration then I would advise to definately buy online.

However, if you don't mind a drive out into Amish country, need/want to play with the knives before picking one up, and don't mind paying the higher B&M store prices, then go out to Country Knives and check out this store yourself.

Who would think that behind this unassuming yellow door...

They've got everything from kitchen cutlery to Case Collector Club knives. They've also got personal grooming items. My wife bought a pair of Rubis (Swiss made) tweezers and she loves these tweezers. According to her she has never come across their equal. We also purchased a German made apple corer. This one is like CNC quality compared to what the high end chef stores carry. They also stock so many cutlery accessories to mention here.

The place really is amazing::)

I went out there to look at many different folders that I wanted to buy. I ended up hating the feel of all those knives I was interested in and bought one knife I had never even considered, the SERE 2000. I absolutely love this knife and it goes with me more than any other. If I hadn't gone out to Country Knives then I wouldn't have ever bought this knife. Also, I knew when I was buying this knife that I was paying at least $40.00 more than online but I didn't mind because it was only fair that after handling so many knives for so many hours it was the least I could do.

But seriously, you could rome the earth for many years and more than likely never come across a knife store it's equal. Trust me.

Happy shopping....

Good luck. Flew up there post 9-11 with only carry-on luggage.

Being from the South--where every Wal-Mart, K-mart, hardware store, etc.--carries an abundance of decent knives, I figured I'd just pick up a cheap knife somewhere there in town.

I couldn't even find a Swiss Army Knife. In the thread that timdennis provides, some mention is made (by him and me) of Golderg's Army Navy. You might try it. I saw that place the day I was leaving the city (of course).

That Country Knives looks way cool. The only place I've seen that might give it some competition is the Smoky Mountain Knife Showroom.

It is "way cool". I got all light headed and dizzy when I first walked through the door. What a great feeling!!!:D

I'm hoping to be able to, one day, head on down to SMKW and check them out. I just know I'd like it....alot!!:)

well, i went to the king of prussia mall and picked up a kershaw, but I will definitly stop by that knife shop its about 45 minutes away from where I live. Looks like a knife heaven :)

I too got a lil light-headed the first time I went in. :D Talk about overwelming. I was just there I think 2 days ago to get my first William Henry knife.
If you're willing to pay the retail prices, Country Knives is definately the place to go. Every single question I've ever asked them they knew the answer to, no matter how stupid it was. And they're very friendly too.
Don't even get me started on the selection, I'm never in there for less than a half hour decided which of the 984375987435 things I want changing my mind every 5 minutes. I've gone in there 3 different times intending on buying a BM-43A and have yet to not change my mind. You walk in there and feel like a fat kid in a candy store.
BTW, what someone said about balisongs earlier in this thread about stores not having them... guess what, THEY DO.
Anyway, I live about 15-20 minutes from that place :D It's definately worth visiting sometime.
