I go to college in the Chicago Suburb area and am trying to buy some decent leather for an axe mask and holster. Does anyone know of loose-leather suppliers?

Thanks so much!

I live in northern Illinois but order mine from The Hide House. The only place in the Chicago area that I know of to go to, is Tandy in Elgin, Il.

Horween is in Chicago. Might be worth checking out for horsehide. It's a 12 week lead to order, but if I lived there (sometimes places will favor locals)... If anything go ask for a tour and take some pics.
I got a set of swatches from them (took a month) and they're all really nice leathers just too soft and pliable for "tools". The horsehide is nice and stiff compared to the others and a nice russet color.

A tour of their facility sounds real interesting. It makes sense that they are in Chicago,There is a long history of the Stockyards as a central hub in the U.S., along with the railroads. The Stockyards are mostly inactive now. I sent an email to Horween for a tour of their facility, we'll see what happens.
