What is the difference in form, desirability and value of the BWM LE and a .22 BWM satin finish non LE?

Can't answer value.

You also need to be more specific about "non LE" since it doesn't really mean much in terms of specs, which affects everything you need to know. The BWM LEs are 0.22" thick, have a satin finish, have black paper Micarta scales, and they're serialized.

I have seen bwms for sale that are .22" thick and have a satin finish, but are not limited editions. Obviously the handles materials are not black paper, but is that the only difference? Also what is financial premium for a "LE" version compared to what seems to be a very similar build but without the serial number?

I don't think there would be any difference between 2 otherwise identical knives unless it was a really cool number.

Something like snakeskin or a variant grind is going to make a much bigger difference.

Posting some pic's of the .22 BWM's with satin finishes which are none LE's might help. Do they have the same high sabre grind or are they flat ground ? The balance and chopping ability of the LE's is certainly special ... and this is likely down to the high sabre grind. It gives a great edge profile angle with the higher sabre grind ... the knife bites very deep and that extra bit of weight in the blade gives it a lot of power. So from a "user" perspective the .22 satin none LE's which don't have a sabre grind might not appeal at the same price point as the LE's.

Pics would help like Peter said...The only .22" thick bwm satin blades Ive seen were all made from LE blanks, or at least appeared to have been the same. THe cgs, and comp finish bwm's were convex ground and are around .187".

THe specs of the two blades are what makes the difference in price and performance. The Le's were $597 + 15 shipping from Busse direct. The Cg's ranged from 387 for canvas,I think, to $432 with g10- I know cause they are here with tags:) Now my guess would be that the Non le blank should have been close to $100 less than the LE if it was released around same time. Unless it came out a good bit after the LE's from a show. THen it might have been closer to the 597 price .

Thats my guess. What do I win?:D

From the link given if that is .22 then it should be made from an LE blank, however the saber grind does'nt seem as pronounced as they normally seem in that photo, but photo's can be deceptive.

As to desirability and price point, some may actually prefer those handle grips over the black paper and some may prefer the black paper. The main difference after that would be the LE number.

Ironically you can sometimes have a rarer blade with a show "special" in satin and different grips.
