BWMCG vs. BWMLE?

Well I have a BWM CG I love a lot, but I always hear great things about the LE. These two are old and I can only find threads comparing the BWM to other models, like the NMFBM and FFBM. If a blank is available, I'd like to get a custom BWM, so I'd like to get your opinions on the two. Which one do you like more?

I heard the LE is thicker yet still lighter and more handle-heavy. Is this because of the saber grind? And does it tire your arm out less easily?

Has anyone ever had any discomfort with the handles? If so, what was it and did you fix it somehow? I am considering getting a slimmer handle, like on the BOSS series, on it. It's always been an interesting notion to me that bigger blades have bigger handles and smaller blades have smaller handles even though the human's hand doesn't change size.

Saber grind vs. convex? Saber seems to be the favorite here, but I like the look of convex more. If saber's the way to go, I'll probably get the grind line zero edged.

As far as custom features I'm thinking of getting a recurve and have the grind line continue straight to the tip instead of curving up to stay parallel to the edge like most knives. I think this is called a dagger grind. I'd be using it for everything, just like the BWM is capable of.

Thanks, folks.

I have a bwmle & wish the handle was bigger/thicker(average sized hands)--other than that semi-nitpick it is a really great knife. It is a saber grind with a convex edge.

i have a cg and the le.ive only used them lightly and can say there is not a huge difference, but i do like the le more and it chops a little better..the bw handles are my favorite mistress handles also.they are somewhere between regular and magnums in sze and fit my hands perfectly.and yes i think alot of guys do like the look of the saber grind.i think you should find a le on the exchange and try it out first,it would be cheaper than the custom shop.and if you like it you could have it modified to your specs.if not sell it.

BWMLE is IMO one of the if not perttiest busse's out there. If I didnt already have near 10 chopping users, Id own one.

I like my LE a lot, I just got a CG, but have yet to use it. If I could change one thing on the LE, it's the black paper scales. I'd prefer black G10 or canvas, but maybe that's just me

NOPE, not just you Bro!!! I think like you that I would have liked this knife (LE) even better if it had G-10. Paper Micarta feels wimpy in the hand, I mean it's ok but there is just far better materials out there. Canvas Micarta would have been a step up as well. Now as far as the diffs between the CG & LE BWM's, I like the LE. It bits good, feels good, BUT I also like the CG if I'm chopping a lot of small stuff. It's so comfortable that I takes a while to get fatigued. Each have there attributes as does all of Jerry's creations. I mean shoot think about all the knives made in the 6-7" range, it's crazy. But there is a knife for everyone and that's the good thing.

In a short "get both" and then deside for your self what feels good to you and your needs. To through some gas on the fire, the CG-FBM is one of the best BM's out there. It's only .250". So you could have your BWM-CG for lite stuff and the CGFBM for heavier. Of coarse here we are down that same old road of what good for you isn't for me, blah, blah. Get both Bro, you decide and enjoy the experience. You will feel far more satisfaction by doing that then always that freaking question in the back of your mind, "what if"???

The BWM is an awesome and pretty blade but it looks a little flat to me... which is why I want to customize it a bit. Add a few more curves, make it more lady-like  I have a CG already, so that considered with all your input I already sent in some specs for Garth to review. This won't stop me from getting a BWM LE if I'm still interested, though!

I'm looking forward to it. Pics in two weeks if the order goes through.

Different opinions make the (knife)world go 'round. I used to swear by micarta handles then got a BWMLE and NMFSNO with black paper and fell in love with the handle. I love it has that little sticky feel. Not that I'm rushing back to change handles on my other knives but I went from a pure micarta person to one that very much admires, and often prefers the paper.
