byrd cara cara mod help needed.

Just picked up a few of the byrd knives since they were so dirt cheap. I started grinding finger grooves into the g-10 handle and that went well. One of the problems that I'm currently facing with , is while the cara cara is razor sharp out of the box I believe that the current profile isn't the best I feel that a flat grind would enhance both the knife cutting ability and looks. I was wondering if anyone has attempted to this? would this weaken the knife ? Any pictures would be of great help.

My pleasure, the Cara Cara is imo the perfect knife for a lil' grinding every now and then... Some pics of your modifications would be great!

have you considered a convex edge? the knife in this video has a somewhat thick edge yet cuts like a straight razor. the knife is a chisel grind with a half convexd edge. http://knifetests.com/kII.html this link is to the knife in the video. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=585930
