I am going to get either one of these. What one should I get. I cannot get both cause I know that will be about %70 of the responces. Besides this if you have any other high value fixed blades. And it has to be under $40.

Get the American-made Becker. I owned a few Byrd knives in the past and was not impressed.
For a folder and fixed, I think I'd choose the Spyderco Tenacious and RAT Izula over both of those.

I can't find the Izula for $32 shipped anywhere. And I didn't know the BK11 was USA made.

well i would save a bit more and spring for the izula. it is a great knife, well built, fantabulous warranty, and a value to boot.

Well I ordered the Becker. I've held the Izula and wish they had they same style but like 1.5 inches bigger.

Good choice. The BK11 is a great knife.

+1 to saving a tad more and getting the izula...

You two mind sharing some photos of your Izulas in hard use?

While your at it, why don't you go back to the RAT forum and ask Jeff and Mike if their knife is better than their buddy Ethan's?

The izula easily handles batoning, chopping and some prying. It's restricted much more by it's size than lack of robustness, but that's the price you pay for an easily EDC'd fixed blades.

To the OP, the Byrd is an outstanding folder. The revised model with a thinner and lighter handle especially so. Decide whether you'd prefer to carry and use a fixed blade or folder. The FB will be easier to keep clean and can open beer bottles easily ;) but the folder will carry more easily and might draw less attention from the general public. The Cara Cara in particular is really comfortable in the hand.

I was thinking about the Crossbill cause I don't own any hawkbill knives so I really want to try one but I can see myself getting more use out of the BK11. Still I want a hawkbill but I guess it will have to wait.

their really two totally different knifes. what did you wanna do with the knifes? I have the crossbill G10 and would highly suggest it if you want an economic hawkbill which is razor sharp out of the box. Next best thing next to a Civilian if you can't afford that which I would recommend even more. Dont get the stainless steel version unless you want the weight as well as the inability to adjust the pivot pressure. The clip of the crossbill is sharp though and I still dont like that but at least it has a clip. KA-BAR Becker Necker doesnt have that but its much more robust and can be used outdoors to actually cut wood and other objects like that. Unless you are rending meat from someone, the KA-BAR Becker Necker will probally be more pratical and is much easier to resharpen. I personnaly like the izula after I saw that guy on youtube cut thru a 4X6 in under 10 mins. That was fken amazing! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSrlvqrZQKY&feature=related

I find blades like the Becker Necker and Crossbill compliment each other well. I prefer my hawkbills serrated, which might seem intimidating to sharpen to some but with the right tools it's a breeze.

I find a Spyderhawk in H1, full SE, and a Swamp Warden. I think if you eventually get both you'll find uses for each of them. One example is I like to cut food with my drop point knives, so the hawkbills cut stuff I wouldn't want to expose to a blade that cuts food.

Oh, and hawkbills cut wood just fine. I've made figure 4's with my tasman salt, and plenty of hotdog sticks :)
