Byrd fixed blade?

I was thinking and I think that would be a decent idea. A nice inexpensive fixed blade along the Bryd line. Who else has thought of this or would maybe like to see one at some point.

I dont know how well the Byrd steel would work in a fixed blade. There are already a lot of manufacturers that have decent prices for substantial fixed blade knives with proven track records.

I am just throwing the idea out there, the decision would be up to Sal and Spyderco. I am glad to see that some people would be interested in a fixed Byrd, they could call it the fixed wing or something like that.

A 3.5", very wide blade in 8Cr13MoV with an inexpensive but useful synthetic belt sheath. Perhaps the blade could be similar to ~ byrd Raven ~ BY08, but without nearly so large a "Byrd Hole". Also, if the handle didn't have as pronounced an angle- less "pistol grippy"- I'd like it better.

Yeah, that's be cool. :)

Actually, about a year ago there was a Spyderco Mule team fixed balde knife with the same Chinese steel they use on the Byrds, and it retailed for something like $20.

Thanks for reminding me, I have two of these in a drawer somewhere and have never used them but on paper to test the edge when I first got them.

I was thinking that a fixed blade Byrd with the Mule Team blade with some removable bolt on FRN scales (maybe in a choice of colors) and a decent sheath would be cool. That would open up the possibility to use the scales and sheath with the other Mule Team blades.

I thought there were rumors of a a Ronin 2 coming in the Byrd line.

Aw, man! I'd like to see a slightly deeper choil to protect the hand, but if Spyderco could make these at a price comparable with the other Chinese Spydies, I'd buy three. Just for me. ;)
