Well, I just bought a Byrd Flight for my friend. I had heard that people like the Byrd knives more than they like the more expensive Spydercos in a lot of cases. When I buy a knife for a friend I always, A) take a look at it myself, I am a knife junky, and B) re-grind if needed. I took it out, and these were my observations.

1. Price 25.00-Cheap
2. The ergonomics are phenomenal.
3. No play, bank vault lock up. (I'm very anal when it comes to blade play.)
4. Good edge. I'd like it sharper, but again that's just me.
5. Beautiful, flawless G-10. This has some of the nicest G-10 I've ever seen or felt. It's absolutely perfect.
6. Fit and finish again, perfect.
7. Perfect smooth opening.

I can't say enough good things about this knife. I'm so, so, so, very impressed. I just wish that maybe a better steel, but for what you pay, there's nothing better. If your intrested in a Byrd knife, GET IT!! You probably can afford the 25 bucks.

P.S.- Comes with a black pocket clip, not plain.

Great review. I couldn't agree more, the byrd line is the best value around for a cheap knife right now. I got my G10 cara cara on walmart's website for $23 with free shipping to the store and it really impressed me. the G10 blew my socks off as well, it has the perfect blend of grip and comfort.

really? cara cara from walmart...i might just have to go there...good info

I go back and forth on whether I prefer this or the Cara Cara. What I like about this design is it gets your hand acceptably close to the cutting edge without requiring a 50/50 choil to do so. I wish more handles were designed with this aspect of the knife in mind, because it seems like a lot of larger folders don't take this into concern.

For the price it's a steal. It's a very, very tough knife, unless you like prybars for tips. :D

It's a very ergonomic knife. I wish they'd use this handle for the Endura 4, particularly the ZDP189 version. Or just release a Japanese made Flight with a round hole, full flat grind and ZDP189 steel. Compression lock and nested liners wouldn't hurt. :D

I bought a Flight and carried it until my wife adopted it and I haven't seen it since. I agree about everything you said, and I even formed a high impression of the steel. It kept it's edge very respectably, and was a breeze to sharpen. It seemed comparable to well heat treated 440C to me.

that's good...i can only go by the chemical make up and i related it to AUS-8, but I haven't had really much experience with it...that's good to hear about it being comparable to 440C though

Yep, Flights are truly sturdy ones, with very good ergos. Stabbing thru 2*4 mm thick wallboard doesn't stopped a G10 CE one... :) The tip is surprisingly durable. :)

I have the G10 Flight too. Its worth every bit of the asking price and I love mine.
