:D Mine arrived from NGK today (PE) - what a fantastic knife for about the price of lunch at McDonald's for 1 adult and 2 kids :D

Seriously, the quality is great - less than half the price of an Endura, but in some ways better:

1. The finger choil is GREAT! Wish the Endura had it.

2. At that price point, I won't cry much (well, not really cry, but ;) if I lose it

3. Full ambi, type up/down for the clip (extremely important for me, strictly
tip-down RH for me)

The FRN handle is very grippy (perhaps grippier than the Endura), the blade shaves right out of the box - fantastic value!! I understand that some of the materials are not of Endura-class, but for my level of use, they're great!

Sal, you've outdone yourself. Is there a FRN Byrd Meadowlard and/or Robin on the way?

I got mine form NGK yesterday and I can't agree more. Truely a great knife for the price. I actually like the FRN better than the G-10.

Hi Edb,

Thanx for the kind words.

Yes, FRN Meadowlarks are already out and the FRN Robin is due this year.

I've been eyeing these Byrd knives ever since they came out, but for whatever reason, I can't pull myself alway from Spyderco.

Now if only they'd do the Delica in G10......my birthday is on Sunday. Any big shots at Spyderco want to make my birthday wish come true?

I like the Cara Cara in G10. I'll take G10 over FRN any day of the week. Though with the G10 Cara Cara, edb wouldn't have the tip down option. I actually like my Cara Cara better than any of my Enduras. I'm thinking of modifying it to make it even better- polishing/ sculpting the G10, and stripping the paint from the clip and satin finishing or blueing it. I think I'm going to "melt" the edges of the liners a bit as well, and maybe do some light filework on the back of the blade.

The Cara Cara is so affordable and well made, it's begging for the Dremel tool. If I screw up, I can replace it pretty easily and try again.

Sal,

As many before me have said, in somewhat similar words, it's really great to be able to correspond with the owner of the company that puts out such great products - and correspond in such a direct, public forum.

I'll be lookin' for the FRN versions of the both the Meadowlark and Robin very soon.

Best to you and yours

I agree, this is a lot of knife for the money!

I just bought 5 and plan to give them as gifts (keeping one for me).

I am also impressed with the robin and I would love to see an FRN version.

Also, how about an FRN pelican? An economical warncliffe would be nice...

Mike

Why go with FRN when there is the G-10 Meadowlark? Now that is a sweet knife. It has it's home in my truck.

I'm comparing my Cara Cara SS with my Native SS and I couldn't tell any difference in quality both are smooth. I showed it to my friend and both couldn't tell which one is more expensive. Until they see the made in Japan/China in the blade. I am trying to decide if I will buy another Bryd or another Spydie. I can buy 2 or 3 Bryd with one Spydie (all depends on which one to buy). Anyways, enjoy your Byrd! you'll like it! Regards.
