I picked one out at my trip to the Factory Store. Cody let me pick from about a half dozen he had left. He told me that they didn't continue the original run because of quality control issues. However, given the fact that I picked out the best of a half dozen, no blade play, decent finish, decent grind and sharpness, it was well worth the 9.95 they were closing them out for. Easy paper cutting sharp, its a half and half so the serrations could do a rough but heavy cut pretty easily. AUS-6 steel, not pot metal for a 10 dollar knife ain't bad.

Its a big heavy folder, and will be a good beater for the truck. I wouldn't want to carry it in my pocket. It seems a bit clumsy and crude, compared to a real spyderco, but really good for what it cost.

I probably shouldn't respond to my own thread and just let it die an ignoble death, but . . . has anyone used a Harrier much? I think they made 500 of them, so probably somebody here has one. I'd just be interested to know. Thanks.

Over a year later, I just opened my desk drawer and saw the Byrd Harrier sitting there. Hadn't thought about it in a long time Big heavy honking folder. I know that they discontinued it because of quality control problems, but mine is pretty nice.

Just wondering if anybody else has used one. Its basically too big for me for a folder, I lean towards small light folders, but it is a heavy duty looking knife.

I had never even heard of this knife until I read this post, but I wouldn't mind owning one. It looks kinda like a "poor man's" Persian. Definitely a great deal for the 10 bucks you paid.

I never had interest in one because of my predijuce toward AUS-6, and because one never "fell into my lap".

The though of the Micarta, and that they look like a poor-man's Persian looks nice. I'd even be willing to give the stee a try just to see how it performs. I suppose that if I could find a decent sample for the $10 that your's was then I'd probably get one.
