Actually...The title says it all!

What do you think? What are your opinions?

I know and realize that this knife is not the Syderco equivalent.

Seems like a really good "value" knife to me.

I have the pe stainless version and the pe G10 version
I much prefer the G10 version
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of both knives
I don't own any Spyderco hawkbills so I can't tell you how they compare

I have a G10 Hawkbill and it is well made and finished. It is an outstanding value for the money.

I have a stainless one, but it was a really early one and the quality was so and so. I love the design though, especially the handle and I wish I would have gotten the G-10 version before it was discoed. Would be cool if they could rerelease the G-10 version or make a regular Spyderco one or release a new model with the same kind of handle.

I think you're talking about the larger Crossbill and the OP is asking about the smaller Hawkbill. The G-10 Crossbill was a great knife for the money. I haven't tried the new one, but the whole Byrd line of knives have proven to be excellent quality for the price.

I recently got the FRN Hawkbill SE as my first hawkbill. I really like how the point gets into anything. Really slick for opening packages & cutting open water/milk jugs, which is the only serious things I've done with it. Typical outstanding Byrd value.

Yes, I was talking about the Crossbill, I misread.

You are right
My apologies I miss-read the op's post

Sounded good to me, I mean, for $20.00, how can you go wrong?

So I went ahead and ordered one. It has the FRN handles.

I have the SE version. I think it is a good knife for $20. I'm still undecided on the benefits of the SE version for my own use.
