I bought a Cara Cara 2 a little while ago and really like the knife for the price. I bought a Meadowlark 2, and was equally impressed. Just got a Meadowlark 2 with SE yesterday and like it also. The QC on the three I bought are all equal for a user knife. I just placed an order for 6 more to give as stocking stuffers for XMas. I would have zero reservations in recommending Byrds to others.

While not up to the standards of Spydercos other knives, they are up to Spydercos standards for the price point. These are great users imho.

I only have one and while it won't match a Delica in fit and finish, it was very low priced and I have faith that it will be made from quality materials.

Likewise I like the Tenacious series of knives. They are more expensive than the Byrd models but they are very nice for the price.

I have several Byrds and agree 100%, they are a lot of bang for the buck.
Easily under rated.

I like the Finch and Robins (SE, PE) that I own. My only complaint is that they are significantly more difficult to open one handed than my Spyderco Ambitious, Cat, Salt I and even the little Dragonfly Salt. Everything else about them is top notch in my experience, although I will admit I do not have a lot of experience owning any knife......I'm pretty new to this hobby. I actually prefer much of the Robin over the Ambitious, but I need my knives to open one handed, so I find myself purchasing more Spydercos than Byrds. I wish Byrd made a liner-lock in addition to the lock-backs which seem to be more difficult to open one handed. In most cases I do not need the better steels available with the Spydercos.

But it is very hard to spend three times the amount for one that opens easier!

They really are great knives! I have a cara cara 2 FRN and it is my go to fishing knife! I have so many knives and that one is always with me when I go fishing which is a lot :D Cant say that I am attracted to the g10 version though... looks too bulky. I also carry a g10 finch (or something like that) in my watch pocket. with the forward finger choil you can get a 3 finger grip on it and its the size of a grasshopper :0

A few years back I needed a curved blade knife for a project and didn't want to spend a lot for it. At the time Byrd had a fully serrated Crossbill model with G10 handle for sale really cheap online. I bought it and abused the hell out of it accomplishing my project then put it away for a year or so. I took it out again later to cut up a lot of old very dirty carpeting. Again, beat the snot out of the knife and neglected it again for at least another year or two. I found it in the bottom of a tool chest a little while back, cleaned it up and resharpened it and it's still good to go, just like new. One tough little knife. Cheap enough to abuse and strong enough to take a beating.

My first 'Spyderco' was a Byrd. I still have the Cara Cara 2 FRN SpyderEdge. Still a great knife, especially for the money.
