My G10 Cara came today. I am amazed that a knife like this can be had for $20! The F&F is perfect. It is simply an awesome deal.

I've been EDC'ing my G10 Cara Cara since I got it last week. It's unbelievable that you can get a knife of this quality for so cheap.

I held the Cara next to my Millie and thought I am not sure the better blade steel is worth $80 more. The Cara is built more like a Manix. I think we are robbing Sal paying so little for a knife like this. I have 5 Byrds now and each one is perfect in the F&F department.
I want a Caly 3 sized/styled Byrd. The Cara is a little big for my EDC needs.

We could have charged more. ;)

Everyone said we should charge more, because we "could get it".

The price is, we believe, fair. Cheaper prices from China should not mean that we should take advantage, simply because we can. To "charge as much as the market will bear" is "biting the hand that feeds you", in our opinion.

I guess you'll have to buy more byrds to make up for it. :p

It is telling that my G10 meadowlark rivals my d4 delica for daily carry at work. The delica has the steel advantage, but the meadowlark has the ergonomic advantage, with the thicker handle and finger choil, in my opinion. The byrds I have sharpened at 40 deg on the sharpmaker cut really well. Plus I've given one or two away at work to replace no-name chinese folders in coworkers' pockets to something with some real edge-holding ability. That in turn has sold some more byrds to people who wouldn't think about spending $50 on a knife, but will spend the $20-$30, so I think you've hit on a market there. All I ask for is a G10 crossbill, please :)

That is for sure Sal. You have a winner with this Byrd line. It is very rare to buy something and feel like you are getting a REAL bargain nowadays.

I have to agree with everything said so far. The Byrds are terrific values. It is fun to get three new knives for what I usually pay for one. I have a question, though. I would love to know why the Native is the knife Wal-Mart is carrying. I would have thought the Byrd line much more fit for the job. Knife consumers don't know a lot about blade steels. I'd think it much easier to sell the Cara. I'd expect most people to look at it and say, "Wow, that looks really cool, and it's cheaper than knife X over here." However, "Well, this one is more expensive, but the blade is S30V" is something I'd only expect from a more educated knife user (at least semi-knut). We are, and likely always will be, a minority.

Don't get me wrong, I think having Natives at Wal-Mart is awesome. But I think the Byrds would feel more at home.

Well, that explains that. But I do find it odd that they of all people would demand it be American-made. My dad refers to Wal-Mart as the Chinese outlet store.

They didn't become #1 by being stupid. Adaptability is a major key to longevity in business.

My Cara in the black is seeing duty doing submarine construction. I work at Northrop Grumman/ Newport News and that is a hostile enviroment for a knife. I have loaned my Cara to other trades people ( something I would NEVER do with my edc knife) and it's been returned unscathed. Great deal for the knife knuts!

I plan on getting a byrd at the end of the month if I have the dough. I don't own any G10 knives and I've been reluctant to shell out for one. Now I can have one for less than I might spend on a night of drinking.
