Title says it all. Looking to re-purpose one of these, though I will be getting the Manticore anyhow for training freehand.
Manticore extra coarse 8" x 2" and 260 micron / FEPA F60.
Micron for the much thicker 10" x 4" course side of Double-Time Silicon-Carbide (SIC) -which was designed for flattening water stones- is 120 grit. I surmise this is a shop flattened dual sided Norton Cystolon Stone 120 /320, as fine side is 320 grit?
If I could rough up coarse side of Double-Time stone with 40 grit SIC or pool filter sand would that make that slab rough enough? The attraction is it would be it is a nice big stone and it is flatter then back of a piece of tile.
Looking at Mr. Wizard's Gritomatic chart and thinking about Konstantin for Venev, and Diemaker's flattening advise (for his coarse bonded diamond stones, both Columbia George and EdgePro form factors), makes me think both stones might not be coarse enough for my Venev first gen bonding on the 60 grit-225 micron and 80 grit -180 micron grit KME stones.
Historically, I have never flattened any stones, just replaced them... of coarse bonded diamond's are a horse of a different color.
