Being a long time avid fan of the C-44 Dyad model I came to appreciate this double-bladed icon of the Great Spyder Factory. The VG-10 Sprint Run was truly a nice improvement and actually made me want to make it my EDC for a second go-around.

But maybe you all might want to see some serious modifications on the original C-44 Dyad or maybe even a completely new designed, double-bladed Spyder all together. The concept of a double-bladed, premium folder is something that shouldn't be overlooked.

Personally I would like to go one of the two ways>> either focus on a marine grade, H-1 Dyad geared for marine use or hard use in harsh environments. Or a new series C-44 Dyad with supersteel blades, titanium or Micarta handle. What modifications would make the C-44 Dyad a knife you would love for EDC? And I'm not talking about the smaller Dyad Jr either.

H1 serrated blade and maxamet plain edge. Peel ply carbon fiber....:D

Hey "onionfan" for being just right out of the gate and for a first suggestion that's a really good one. It is a real shame that they were not able to do the Salt Dyad. I heard that production costs were going to run high on that one.

Another modification I truly wish they would do on a new Dyad is for them to have some type of lanyard attachment. Because that is really the only serious fault I can find with the first two C-44 Dyad designs. I've talked to guys who are fishermen and on other marine type jobs who have said to me that the Dyad is a great tool for them but it lacks a lanyard hole or hook. Hopefully that can be remedied in the future.

It may have sounded like a joke but I would love a dyad with those two steels and the peel ply scales. I've always wanted a dyad even years ago when I could have bought an original, but as a teenager I never had the money and now the vg10 in the sprint is a turn off. For some reason me and vg10 have never gotten along. That combo would be odd but the best of the best in edge holding.

It would also be sweet to see a salt version....yellow frn with h1 blades or a Taichung version with the scales like the Caribbean and lc200n blades. Could you have a double compression lock setup? That would be killer.

Oh no quite the contrary I didn't consider it a joke at all; actually I considered it a great suggestion. Having a Spyderedged blade in H-1 is a slam dunk. Also having the clip point blade of the Dyad in one of the newer supersteels is also a sterling idea. Sorry to hear that you've not had good results with VG-10 because it's been one of my favorite "hard use" blade steels over the years.

The big C-44 Dyad has so much potential and offers a lot to anyone who needs an EDC for a wide range of cutting jobs. I don't want to see this model die. I do believe with some serious brainstorming and some tweaking of the original design it could be one of Spyderco's Flagship model.
