I was interested in the C.A.S. Iberia Ron Lake interframe reproduction (on the cover of January Blade) until I saw that it costs $450. Somebody please tell me how a knife made in China can legitimately be worth $450. I know labor over there is way less expensive than the U.S. or Japan.

Anthony, I had a thread about this same knife back in Sept.

There is no way I could explain paying $450 for this knife. I wonder who CAS is targeting for this knife as well as the Moran knife? I'll admit a real Lake (or Moran) is way beyond my means, but so is a production copy at those prices, no matter where it's made.

At least when OE was attempting to make the Appleton/COSMOS they tried to keep the price affordable. I have to think that the COSMOS was far more complex to make than the Lake. I think CAS is way off base.
