Colt Cubic Baron Nitride Extraction 7, C-BNX7 Sharpening Stone. Has anyone used this stone? What is the grit? I been googling it and can't find out anything about this. It claims its harder than a diamond stone. Any info? Thanks -Ken

Boron nitride isn't as hard as diamond. It's close, though. I'd expect a very long lasting stone. If it isn't flat, though, it would be terrible to flatten.

Looks low quality and of the several sites I viewed none had a grit or binder type. Being a "Colt" product and made in China does not inspire confidence either.

I've been keeping my eyes open for a CBN benchstone for awhile, and have seen none. There are grinding wheels, but most are very coarse by sharpening standards.

For 15$ theres not going to be a whole lot of CBN in there anyways. Id steer clear.

Im looking into having some waterstones formulated with CBN integrated into the stone itself. Its costly but i think.it would have certain.advantages over diamond plates and films.

Fwiw i have heard that CBN is harder than diamond "in high speed applications" no clue what those applications are though.

High temperature interaction causes carbon leak from diamond to bind with metal - losing diamond, maybe that what they meant. hence CBN is better for high temp (900+F) grinding.
