Hi, all.

I'm 99% ready to put down a deposit on a custom Marlowe folder.

I've never drooled so much before in my life. Man.

I'm just trying to do due dilligence -- that remaining 1% -- has anyone had any experiences with him?

From his email, he seems completely reliable and a very nice guy. A few posts on BF point to nothing but praise.

Thanks!

I'm right there with you Biogon! I had a serious Marlowe bug about a month and a half ago. I don't have extra funds, due to my lay off, or else I would have jumped all over his design. I saw his advertisment in Blade, and I'll tell you, I was hooked!

Charles seems like a great guy. We had several e-mail correspondences, and I left feeling that he is nothing more than a true professional.

I'd give C.M. a try anyday. A first class individual if you ask me.

biogon - a little over a month ago, I was just about to put a deposit down on the a Tactical Folder. I spoke to Charles at length over the phone about certain materials changes, why he did thing the way he did them and so on. Only a financial "surprise" from my insurance company kept me from ordering.

Although I have never handled one of these knives, I still have the knife in my mind and hope to get one in my hands this year.

I have several Marlowe knives and have Known Charles for more than a decade. I have had nothing but great experiences in dealing with this man. He typically garauntees his knives for the life of the knife, never a complaint and I love my folder! :)

Thanks, wire edge, Architect, & p0ntif for the positive feedback.

The check is now in the mail to Mr. Marlowe (just dropped it off, in fact...)

I'm ordering one with the ivory micarta scales and thick blade/thick liners, in BG-42... like the one at

http://www.terrillhoffman.com/knife_gallery02_06.htm

except right-handed.

This is my first custom.

Everybody say "Oooohhh..." now!

I've convinced my wife that this will replace ALLLL my other knives and be my only EDC... but who am I fooling? I get the feeling she's just humouring me. Can you tell she loves me? :D

The waiting has just started, and I'm already down to the nubs on my fingernails.

THREE MONTHS?

Ouch!

You guys are lucky; all I have is one of Charle's inexpensive skinners I got cheap at a local gun show. Even though it is a no frills model, it is perfectly ground. Someday, one of the folders will make it into my hands.

Charles makes some great knives!!! The last knife I recieved is by far the sharpest knife I own , man he sure can grind!!! go ahead and order you won't be sorry!

Since Jon has already posted a link to the knife I don't have to. The knife in the shot is one of my own. I got it from Charles at the last blade show and once it was photographed I started using it. I for one couldn't be happier! The fit is better than knives I have seen at twice the price. Order one and you won't be disappointed!

I was just about to buy one a few months back, but had to pull out at the last minute due to financial reasons. IMHO they are very well made folders, easpecially for the price tag on em. Clean grinds, and a great edge!Go for it,I dont think you will be disappointed.

I already put my deposit down after seeing his knives in "Blade", and have thought of almost nothing else since. When I called him, he was receptive to my ideas about all of the little changes I wanted. I should be getting mine in April sometime, and I would not hesitate to get another one. If you have any questions, you should call him or email him. The man loves to talk knives, as do we all.

Smitty,

Great! Which one did you order? I should be looking at (or so Mr. Marlowe says) the end of June-ish...

Oh man.

Heh.

No website. I don't recall if he is printing a catalog yet. I know he had several models, but I never asked him for a catalog. Give him a call.

Scott Dog,

Nope, none that I know of.

I offered to build him a site, and he mentioned that he had someone working on it already, but I suspect it's not too high a priority (since he DID say it was 5423 on his to-do list.. ;) )

Kind of a shame, since it could be quick 'n dirty and semi-temporary (yeah, I do this for a living) and would provide a ton of information we're all itching for. Not to mention probably being a lot cheaper (in the short run AND long run) than catalogs.

But I'm not criticizing -- I have nothing but good words to say about the guy, from my email and phone conversations. First rate guy.

I'm just dreaming about MINE now that I've got my order in. :D

biogon I orderd the tactical folder and it should be done in april.Excelent prices and a great guy can't wait till I get mine:D

I work with Charles on his ads in Blade Magazine. His knives are first rate, but just as important he is first rate. He's a great guy- I would never hesitate to do business with him.

biogon, Terrill - as soon as I saw that pic when Terrill first posted it, it became my computer wallpaper, & it still is. LOVE THAT KNIFE!!! Aesthetically amazing. I've tried to convince Charles to make a "gentleman's" sized version, but he hasn't bit yet. If that thing came in a size that was legal for me to carry, I would be all over it in a heartbeat, #1 priority purchase. I've never heard a bad word about Charles or his knives.

The man and his knives are a class act:) . I just bought a prototype that he posted on KnifeForums, and I'm very happy with it. It's a cute little Ti Framelock. Be forewarned, Charles idea of sharp makes Microtech look like a butter knife (especially if you ask him nicely for extra-sharp please). He is extremely pleasant to talk to, and goes out of his way to make the buyer happy. Clearly a 4 stars maker!:D
