My sister and BIL recently went to Germany to attend the wedding of a friend. She asked before they left if I wanted anything. I half-jokingly said a small pocket knife that wouldn't get them in trouble with the TSA would be nice, but don't get too crazy...
This arrived in the mail today;
C.W. Engels Lockback in Stag. (I'm guessing at the pattern, a Swell Center, maybe?)
With one of the 25's for scale;
Length closed is 4" with a 3" blade. Nickel silver bolsters/brass liners and Stag scales with a badge shield. Pull is around 3 or 4 with tight lockup and 0 play.
The workmanship is quite nice. And a lot more than I was expecting, to say the least.
I've seen some Engels knives come through my friends shop from time to time, usually WWII era pieces and I know they've been around since 1884, but that's about all I know. If any of our international brethren want to chime in with more information, feel free.
Of course, other owners of Engels are welcome to share...
