Wow, didn't expect to see this one so soon! Can't wait to get one of these in hand -- I think this might end up being my favorite of the Sage series.

I look forward to hearing what folks think about this one- looks like a winner!

Yeah, that's an expensive little sucker.

Perhaps that's just part of the Al Mar homage, though - mid-lock knife with classy bolstered wood handle and a price tag way higher than what you'd expect it to be.

Pricy indeed but a classy knife. I've had my eye on a tiny little Al Mar lockback/abalone scale at a local shop forever but the $148 price tag for a 1.75" blade is holding me back. I image these may hit the $179 mark at popular internet sites?

Why are the screws black when the rest of the knife is light colored? Most of the time I must wish for black hardware to match the handles (since black and other dark G10 and FRN are common), but this time it's silver that would match, yet black is used. It seems like a weird choice.

We just got these in and I thought I would post some pictures of the actual knife we have. The handles are much darker than the original picture shows, and the black hardware looks pretty good with the knife.

Hmm it almost looks like they changed the design. The proto picture looks like some sort of rock, while the actual knife looks like wood grain.

This one looks much better IMO, the black goes well with the darker wood grain. Thanks bladehq

Agreed. I actually prefer the black hardware with this woodgrain, and I was skeptical of it in the original pics. Looks like another winner. I may have to pick one of these up - I LOVE the Sage blade and handle shape, and there are so few dressy Spydercos.

Desert ironwood varies widely. Sometimes it looks like rosewood and sometimes like marble. Google a few images and see. Kind of cool as there should be many variations among the Sage 4s.

Good looking knife. I carry my Sage 2 all the time. I haven't gotten my shipping notice yet but it was billed to me so I expect I have one on the way. I hope I get one with a number on it. I don't remember if the Sage series are numbered? Anyone know?
