several years ago, probably 6 years now, my brother got me a spyderco from the store in golden. it has been my favorite edc for many years now and i decided to grab a replacement just in case i ever lost this one. the one that my brother gave me is the same exact blade as the c22 walker, but it has a black handle, a spacer in the back so that it isn't open, the clip has the us patent number on it along with "foreign pats pend/ other pat pend" and the blade is offset toward the non-clip side of the handle. otherwise, it is exactly like the c22 blue walkers that are still available on line. does anyone have any info for me on my older one? is it just an older model or what? thanks.

The knife you have is one of the run of "Experimental" Almite Walker's made some years ago. It did not go into production at that time, but was finally issued as a Sprint Run last year. I would guess the blue color of the new ones was, at least in part, so as not to diminish the collector value of the original black ones. Aside from the color, the other major difference would be the steel, with the blue ones being VG-10, but aside from that they are certainly close enough that a blue one would make a viable back up for your original.

thanks for that info. that explains why nobody could tell me what it was! it has been my favorite edc for years now so i'm glad that spyderco did an official run of them.
