Any history on this knife appreciated.
I know the first issue was an aluminum handled version ,but would like more info including user opinions.
thanks.

This is all speculation, I'm not sure of exact details:

The originals were Alumnium scales, PE or SE, Gin-1 steel.

The second generation were G-10 (unlinered I believe) PE or SE, Gin-1.

The third generation was lined G-10 (on the clip side) only CE, Gin-1

The Renegade had a similar history as well, if I remember correctly.

Both the Blackhawk and Renegade had the distinction of being Colorado made, but featuring Japanese steel.

The Deacon has more details on his website I believe.

Regards,Rick.
Anyone know how the clips stayed on the second unlined version or did they pull out of the unlined G-10?

Never had one of the unlined versions, but I believe the liner was added because the clips sometimes pulled out of the G-10.

Black Hawk (C24) and Renegade (C23) are different-lenght versions of the same knife. Both were the first Clipit with clip-point blade, no hump in the blade and 50/50 choil. Black Hawk was introduced first. G-2 stainless is the steel, early versions with 6061-T6 aluminium handles, but G-10 was soon adopted (all Renegades have been of G-10)
(short details out from "Spyderco Story/Kenneth T. Delavigne)

I guess Black Hawk was first produced in 1993 (6061-T6) and than 1994-1997 (G-10), MSRP was $ 44,50.

Hope these additional infos help you a little bit. I`ve no handling experience, as I don't own one :o

the screws came out. I took mine to the Riddle of Steel in 1995 and while we were on the road to Snake River we pulled over for awhile and I took mine out and the screws fell out. lost them in the dirt. I still have the knife.

I have them PE,CE,SE IN G10,ALUM..linerless and with liners

I was researching the Black Hawk C24G and, lo and behold, found this thread which was very helpful.

I just found one of these in an Army Surplus store. It's the unlined G-10 plain edge version. Came in the white box with Edge-U-Cation paperwork, pretty close to mint.

Does anyone know how rare/collectable these are, especially in excellent/unused condition with the original box and paperwork? I'm torn right now whether to use it or make it a safe queen.

Any info is appreciated.

They're not that uncommon LNIB in local b&m type stores. I just bought one a couple months back sitting there unsold since new. It happens typically in places that charge full MSRP. There is a store here like that. I was amazed at what they had untill I saw the prices. Still, if you are really wanting something....Joe

I just picked up a blackhawk that is partially serrated with lined G-10 handle for a good deal... but I don't really like the blade shape... thinking about getting rid of it.
