I had a C25 Centofante, blue aluminum with the santoprene inlays that I picked up a little while ago. I like it, but I really love the C25 I have in black G10, so after thinking about it for a spell I decided to see if I could get the blue one redone with some different materials.
I inquired with STR, who said that if I was really sure about wanting to do it he would undertake a rebuild on the C25. So after settling on what setup I would like I mailed off the knife to Steve in Oklahoma.
It came back in the mail today (4 days after Steve got it, a very quick turnaround time) and I'm really happy with how it came out. The original pivot pin and washers were used, but the screws, handles, backspacer and stop pin are all new from STR. The Ti slab is 6Al 4V titanium, 0.88 thickness. The other handle slab is canvas green micarta, 0.123 thickness. The backspacer is aluminum. Oh, and I got one of STR's famous Ti low rider clips too. The original body came back intact and as you can see in the pics below, the new knife compared to what came from the factory is practically a dead-on match.
Thanks again to STR, his work on this knife is top notch. I have the same blade and same handle profile in a lighter but more heavy duty package, so it's win-win from my perspective.
Comments are welcome.
