I have come across a Spyderco viele C42, no box, pouch, papers, knife looks to have been carried lightly, overall I'd say 90% condition. Any idea what the value of it is?

Short version of the story is I built a AR for a man from a parts kit that he provided, I hand fit all componets, did some threading and re-crowning, etc. He owed me $300, and instead traded me an ESEE 6, a 1979 Gerber MKII with chopped up sheath, the Viele and $50

Hard to say. Fact that it's less than 100% pretty much kills collector value, so it's worth whatever it's worth to someone as a user. Not a model with a huge fan base of users, which further limits demand. Value also depends, to some degree, on whether it's plain edge or serrated. On the other hand, the final MSRP for them was $187, making it one of the more expensive Spydercos of it's time.

Its plain edge, like I said great shape, but yes, great user shape since no box. It honestly looks like someone bought it, stuck it on their pocket for a week or two then put it away

I'd say worth at least $100, possibly more, to the right person. Trick will be finding that person.

thanks!!! I'd send it down the road if I cleared $100 from it, or traded for something i'd use, I EDC my Mini-Socom m/a until my lg sebenza gets made so I have no use for it

There is one more consideration. C42 Viele has two variants:more common variant with partially closed back with AUS8 blade steel and more rare with open back VG10 blade. I am Viele fan and watching e-bay for his Spyderco collaborations for few years. Not often, but they shows up on e-bay and usually NIB model with AUS8 PE sold around $100-110, with VG10 goes for $125-150.
IMHO anything not NIB knife subtract at least 25-30%.

Thanks guys, you have been tons of help. This was AUS8. It went bye bye last night for a nearly brand new Izula with a aftermarket sheath. Neat knife but I had no use for it. All your help was appericated. Again thanks
