Ok, so I've searched this to no avail. Does anyone know what type of washers, if any the original C83 Persian uses? It's pinned or else I'd just take it apart and find out.

Once it broke in it has become one of the smoothest knives is own, which is something I never expected out of this knife.

I don't have mine in front of me right now but I'm 99.9% sure there are no washers. Are there any marks near the tang from opening?

There are, but they could be from it rubbing against the inside of the bolster. It honestly looks like there's not enough room for any type of washer but I can't convince myself that it could be that smooth without any.

You'd be surprised how nice the older, all pinned spydies get after break-in. If I remember correctly, it shouldn't have any washers at the pivot. Does it say Seki Japan on the tang? If it doesn't it was made by Moki in Japan. They specialise in extremely tight constuction and don't use washers on any of their knives.

Yeah if it doesn't say Seki city, it's made by Moki. You can also tell by the "Y" in the "spyderco" on the tang, if the "y" looks like a tuning fork, it's made by Moki. If it's a regular "Y" it's Seki city. I know for a fact the Caly does not use washers and mine was perfectly smooth.
