CA carry law?

Hey all,

I purchased a TOPS ESC knife a short while ago and I carry it sheathed in a bug out bag in my car. I was wondering if this was illegal within CA. To be honest, I hadn't even considered the fact that I might be breaking CA law in the process. I thought concealed carry was more hidden on your person rather than in a zipped bag in the back seat of your car. Thanks.

In the backseat may still be illegal because it is within easy reach thus it is like being on your person. In the trunk I believe is okay for a fixed blade knife.

let me be frank in California there are so many laws restricting the law abiding citizen from possessing this or that most law enforcement officers do not even know about them! If if in case you were caught with a fixed blade in your vehicle just articulate your reasoning and you will be fine. Everytime I see a thread like this it makes me wonder, how in slave some of you guys are. I carry a fixed blade in my truck all the time right next to me. It's a survival tool, I'm a fisherman, when I work I need a knife to open up boxes, I go camping, etc. The list goes on, there is a certain point where you guys need to be reasonable.

@Glock26: I see your point....and I'm perfectly reasonable. But what I can't control is how a LEO reacts to me having one. I don't ever want to put myself in a compromising situation because I didn't know the law......even if the law is plain silly.

actually, there are only two laws pertaining to knives in the california penal code, so this post is not based on reality.

eta, 3 laws. sorry. 626.10 pc, 653k pc, 12020pc.

Have the knife out in the open, that pertains to open carry law. Same as pistol and firearm as long they are out in the open meaning visible you are fine! Simple as that, again make sure the knife is in plain view. I cannot stress this anymore.
Refer to PC 12025 (e) same as open carry laws with knives and guns. Keep it visible you're fine. There is nothing illegal about having a large fixed blade in your vehicle.
