I understand that when carrying a fixed blade it must be "openly carried". Would that mean that a fixed blade on my belt would have to be completely exposed with shirt tucked in? Or, can i have it on my belt with the sheath hanging out obviously from under my shirt?

Thanx

More of a regional interpretation. In the northern part of our state having a knife is a given. In the southern when in LA or in some cities a cop can make his own call. If you are being questioned a cop can or will tell you are in violation carrying just a pen knife. When questioned just be honest, the authorities usually respect you more and will not rob you of your knife.

From what I've read, when it comes firearms and ccw permits, to leos/prosecutors concealed means you gotta hide it really really well, no pistol outlines on your clothing, or you risk losing your ccw permit at minimum, or a charge of brandishing.

When it comes to knives, to leos/prosecutors it means you can't have your shirt cover any part of it.

I would play it safe (either carry fully unobstructed, or consult a lawyer like http://pweb.netcom.com/~brlevine/ for legal advice).
