CA Legal?

I just bought an m48 tomahawk off amazon. I was wondering, especially you CA people, if it can ship to California because I was reading the description and it said throwing axes cannot be shipped to CA. Basically, what I'm asking is, is the m48 tomahawk considered a throwing axe?

I see no reason why not. I have purchased throwing 'hawks for years without any issues. Also, we have a Knife Laws sub forum that will get you good advice.

sportsmans guide says they cannot ship to certain states.. http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/m48-apocalypse-tactical-tomahawk.aspx?a=1104724
Another weird law?

M48® Apocalypse™ Tactical Tomahawk

WARNING: You must be 18 or older to purchase Throwing Axes.

WARNING: Throwing Axes cannot be shipped to CA; CO; CT; DE. Also D.C.; MA; Miami-Dade and Sarasota counties, FL; Canada or Puerto Rico. Please check your State, County and City laws for restrictions before ordering Throwing Axes.

Strange, I see no difference in that compared to other similar tools. Its not even labeled as a throwing axe.

Strange laws? Oklahoma has a few , you can't buy a corkscrew at a liquor store. It's so a guy can't buy a bottle of wine and open it in the parking lot and drink and drive--- they left out pull top beer cans and screw top bottles of everything else. Weird to say the least, and makes you think the law makers are just dumb.
I seen the same shipping regulations on axes for certain tactical and bowie knives , the reasoning is weak.

it makes no sense... if Big 5 or other sports places in CA can sell tomahawks... why cant online stores? I just hope it gets shipped to me.

It does seem odd you could buy it there, but not online. It looks like it would keep kids from buying, like there's an intent to keep certain items out of the hands of gangs and so on.

Sportsman's Guide's CEO does this to punish states that disagree with his tax philosophy, according to an insider I've talked to. They won't ship a whole range of things to Colorado, even though Colorado is one of the least restrictive states in the nation (open carry, legal to carry in your car without a permit, etc). Better to check your state laws.
