Guys I've been pondering a AG 110 rosewood for awhile. I own a regular 110 and 2 stag AG ( 1 carry and one put up). Recently after looking at them and looking at the custom shop it dawned on me the custom shop is actually cheaper than a Ag if you stik with the standard woods. Anyone that has both have any cooments on fit and finish of the Ag compared to the custom shop?

I don't have both but I have a custom shop 110 and the workmanship is spot on, they really do a great job on the customs.

Thanks. I really think those custom shop ones are looking better all the time.I have looked at thm a few times but never did anything but look.

Take your time and play around on the site, you can do alot of options and they will make sure it is good to go before they send it out to you. I got one with S30V blade, nickel silver bolsters, smooth buffalo horn scales and engraving. I want to get alot more in the future about 7-10 more custom 110's.

A 110 is the one knife I'm never without.Thought a custom one might be kind of neat to carry.

I Have a few of the AG's and a few of the customs. One of the customs is a KOA & BG-42 blade EDC, very nice I hardly carry it. The AG is my main EDC and side carry knife and has been for the last 7 years....love it. You can't go wrong with either knife, only dif to me is the blade coating.

Can't go wrong with either, or the recent Buck Web Special cpm154 110 for $35 (buy of the year). Lots of web specials are now available on Ebay. If you can wait, the best time to buy the AG 110 is during a sale. Cabelas usually has all AG knives 25% off around 1st week of December.

Custom Shoppe.......no contest.

Unless you like Cabela's advertising on your blade.

:)

I looked at the AG 110 and well it has a black blade, I don't know what they were thinking on that! I hate it!

A custom shop 110 with bone scales, nickle bolsters and mirror polish blade makes a great looking knife. I got one off Ebay and just love it.

I have both the Cabela's and Bass Pro up grade models and really like them the coating doesn't bother me at all. One is black the other more of a blue. I think the coating really helps it to skate thru cutting chores, similar to a the effects of a mirror polish but with added features. I also have the 110 in ATS-34 and 154-cm both are great knives. I currently don't own a custom 110 but have given it some thought and would go with a mirror polish blade with routed buffalo horn slabs. DM

The black coating is why its such a great hunting knife,if you just don't have a lot of time to clean your knife while out hunting, the coating stops stains and rust dead in their tracks, and makes for easy clean up when you do get time.

Thanks guys. I do have 2 AG stag 110 and the blde coatings dont bother me at all. One (my carry) has a shiney black coating while the other is ore grayish less polished looking. Well its no hrry so I'll kick it around for awhile.

I'd go with the custom. The AG is quite nice, ut the black blade and rosewood handles just don't quite work, aesthetically. And if you have an AG, well, it's time for a custom.

I had the AG 110 for some time before getting my first Custom Shop 110. The AG 110 is nicely done - but the gold logo on the black blade combined with the brass bolsters is a bit too much bling for me. I carried a base 110 instead - that AG 110 has yet to need resharpening! My first 'user' CS 110 was with nickel silver bolsters, Fuji orangewood, and BG-42 steel - it was $84 delivered then with a leather sheath. They quit supplying BG-42 - now include S30V as a better choice. You can build one like mine - with S30V satin blade - and a cordura sheath for $86 delivered today - not much of an increase in five plus years! The beauty, to me, of the CS 110 is that you can specify nickel silver - and no rivets showing, if you prefer. I'll take my CS 110s any day over the AG110 - or the BPS 110s, too. My view of the BPS 110s is jaded - nice blades, but both of my recent closeout deals are hard as everything to unlock (My original BPS 110 is okay.).

The AG 110s I've seen were nicely made... great fit & finish. The CS 110s, if possible, are even better! Both types come razor sharp. Oddly, I've never found a poorly executed basic 110!
