Anybody knows who makes them. What kind of fit and material quality are we looking at? Thanks

The website lists the steel as 3Cr13. Considering the price (under $20) I would say China would be the country of manufacture. They look decent on the website.....the bone handles look pretty good. I like the Scout knife.

my charts give the compo of this stuff as follows;
c-.26 tio.35
ch.- 12 to 14 %
man.-1.o
unless some super tweaked heat treat is done i'm afraid this will be a very marginal performer
rockwell is--52 to55

Doubtful. I worked as a knife/optics guy at Cabela's for a short time and any knife with their name on it (other than the Buck exclusives) were total crap. Fit/finish? Didn't even know the meaning of the word, and they were gritty as hell. Like the manufacturing facility was in the middle of a desert. :thumbdn:

That's less carbon than 420HC. I don't think any heat treat is going to do much for this alloy. It's about the same carbon level as 420J2.

I agree. Marginal performer.

Pass.

Based on my experience you'd be lucky if there was a heat treatment involved at all. :p

Thanks for the advise yall. I'll probably pass. Price should have given it away I guess. Take care.
