I've been wanting a mini-grip for a while, but after carrying my D2 Para I am spoiled by D2. It is about a $30 difference though and I can't find a used one anywhere. I realize 154CM is just fine, but I really like that D2. Now a mini-grip with D2 and G10 would make me smile for a long time. :)

I personally dont think $30 is worth it. I like me 154cm MG just fine. It sharpens much easier than D2 IMO and i do light chopping with mine so i cant have it chip. Plus the steels are basically the same price anywhere else.

For you it might be worth it. You can see how some companies are better or worse at heat treats; meaning a harder or easier to sharpen blade. Plus, if D2 is your thing (one of my faves, too), get it.

If you look at the BM site, I believe the D2 Mini-Grip retails at $90 (the same price as the regular). Cabelas sells the D2 Mini-Grip for $90. So there really SHOULDN'T be a price difference; it's just that Cabelas is selling it at MSRP.

Personally, I refuse to buy anything at MSRP. The D2 Grip is supposed to be cheaper than that, so I won't get it (although I have considered it before).

"Retail Price" on Benchmade's website for the D2 mini's is $107.00, Cabela's sells them for $89.99.

As for the price of the D2 Griptilians, Cabela's is selling the D2 Grip's at their price, as they are the only source for a D2 Griptilian, it's a Cabela's exclusive.

I think the price difference is worth it. I had a D2 grip, but it was quickly replaced as my EDC when my Ritter Grip arrived.

There was a thread on the benchmade forum site less than a month ago, maybe one or two weeks ago. Almost everyone agreed that 154CM was the way to go. You might want to take a look.

D2 I my most misunderstood steel. I have had the Big KOA 10 inch D2 knife and have used it hard as I have the D2 Kershaw Outcast. I keep hearing about D2 chipping but have never seen it with these two knives. I sometimes shy away from it for reasons that I have never seen. I do really like 154 as well.

So how many do have D2 knives that have chipped?
