I don't like lasered blades, but the rivetless Ironwood is nice... :)

Cabela's Track Series Limited Edition 110 Lockback by Buck

Item: XG-517426

Exotic handles made from Desert Ironwood add a classic look. A laser-cut skeletonized image on the 420HC blade displays a North American Elk profile. Only 500 of these Cabela's-exclusive collector's-series knives will ever be produced. Each serialized knife includes a presentation box, full- grain leather sheath and certificate of authenticity.

Cabela's seems to favor either writing all over the damn blades or cutting holes in them.

What IS the matter with those guys? Who wants a knife with a hole in the blade?

... Who wants a knife with a hole in the blade?

OK, now that cracked me up. I have one..the 110 Buck 100 yr Anniv Oak. I'm not a big fan of the cuts or etched models.

But your comment reminded me of a bad wreck I got in. Bike ended up landing on me and the rear footpeg went through my leg leaving a 1-2 inch deep and 3-4 inch long gash of nothing. Tore out the muscle. A hole. You could see the meat on my footpeg and pipes.

About three days after surgery the pain was killing me. Pain I'd never felt before or since. They had me on serious pain pills but it was still a bear. I called my doc. Explained the pain to him on a level of 1-10 being "11". He said, very matter of factly, "Marvin, you have a hole in your leg". Polite way of saying "DUH???? Of course it's going to hurt. You have nothing where something should be".

So, now I look at those knives and know they will never be used to cut anything and, like the hole in my leg, I see a void. Nothing where something should be.
Your mileage may vary.

Unlike my fellow bucky nuts....trax & goose,

I really like the blade cut outs and gold etched blades on my Buck knives. You know my father in-law really likes those silver watch bands with big hunks of turquoise on them....the gaudier the better....when I see them it makes me laugh......But, know I realize that my taste in knives is like his taste in watch bands...LOL. To each his own.

Trax get the Cabelas knife. I'll send you another Buck and you can switch the blades for us.....I'd like to have the Elk cut out blade!!!! Oh, and goose when you want to get rid of the oak handled blade cut out....sell it to me ;).

Ok, if you have a knife that you will NEVER use to cut anything (because it's so valuable and beautiful)......that's ok, because, in a pinch, it COULD cut something and cut very well.

But, a knife with a hole in the blade would just break under real work.

It seems like it makes the whole idea of that knife dishonest.....it's not even a real knife. Might as well make it out of wood and paint it up real pretty.

I agree that the cutouts are well-done and the knives are beautiful, though.....it's just that I can't see them as real knives and it's knives that I like.

A knife can be art, but art can't be a knife.

But that's just me, and if others can enjoy them.....that's ok.

And then there's those knives with ugly black block lettering all over the blade.

I shudder violently.

:D

Hi Rocinante,

If it walks like a knife, quacks like a knife (or honks like a goose), and cuts like a knife.....it's a knife. Use the right tool for the job....holes in the blade and or writing on the blade wont stop the edge from cutting. But, I would not take a blade cut out knife into the field for heavy work....I've got plenty of other knives for those kind's of job's.

Do you remember the movie "Outlaw Jossie Wales", when Chief Dan George, takes a piece of Red hard rock candy out of his pocket....and said "This is for looken through not eaten"......well the knives I buy for my collection....are for looken at not for usen!!!!!! I buy a different style knife for EDC:D .

As I said in the post above...to each his own....that's what is so cool about this Buck knife stuff....there's something for every one!!!!!!!

Happy Trails

Just turn 'em sideways and use exactly like a cookie cutter. They make the nicest mini elk sugar cookies I have ever seen. Barnum only wishes his animal crackers looked that good.:D

OK! Now THAT is funny!!!
Use it and then sharpen it...keep sharpening until you get to the center.
How many licks for a Tootsie Pop?

The $130 bucks would make another hole, and then my wife might call me a type of hole
