Went to the cabin for the first time in 6 months. Actually, 3 months, but because of the swarming wasps, we weren't able to stay. Had a great weekend, but dizam, was it ever hot out. Lower 90's both days, and humid as can be.

We got there Friday night, unpacked, cleaned out the cabin a bit, and had a smoke before bed. Heard an animal in the woods, and it came out, and walked across the yard. It was an armadillo, but I didn't get any photos of it. I've seen them dead along the road many times, but it was the first time at the cabin.

You can see how tall the weeds were on the lane. Queen Anne's Lace taller than the hood of the truck, and tall ferns on both sides:

A tree hanging over the lane, in front of my drive. The vines made it top heavy:

Up the drive. You can see how tall the weeds are:

Saturday morning foggy "mountain", then clearing up:

Weeds in the yard weren't as bad:

Seemed odd seeing a little Ranger there:

The 6:

Sons friend sent me a new decal from New Mexico. Put it on my storage box I use for cigars. Work's out great. Threw a 69% Boveda pack in it, and the cigars are kept perfect:

Got the drive weeded, and the trees trimmed:

Wife cleaned up the end of the cabin:

I attempted to weed the lane all the way from my cabin to the gate with a weed whip, about a quarter mile, but the heat was too much. I made it about two thirds. The 90°, full sun weather got the best of me. Took me 5 hours to do the yard, drive, and lane. Hard when you do both sides of it, plus the middle:

Did cut the tree down, and drive weeded:

to be cont...

More BH swag. I've had it for a few months now, and wanted to take photos last time, but didn't because of the wasps. BH 81, glass flask, and shot glass, with the 62:

Shot glass close up:

Flask close up:

This wasn't a cheapo surface laser etch, this was engraved deep:

Randoms:

Threw the 16 in there:

Saturday evening, we went to town to get a burger. Nice to be in the air conditioned truck for awhile, haha. Came back, sat around, and listened to some tunes:

Balancing act:

I know you guys have seen this shot a million times, but I never noticed that the tree in the center of the three was leaning toward the cabin. As much as I hated to, it's much easier to deal with a small tree, so I cut it down. Before and after:

Even though it was a scorcher, it always gives me peace of mind to make sure everything is okay there. It was, and as always, had a good time there. Didn't use the blades, unfortunately, but perhaps the next time I will.

Thanks for looking.

Fall and Winter are much more bearable outside. Looking forward to this year's camping/backpacking season!
Definitely. A fire is always the highlight, and it was way too hot for that.

Very nice.

Looks like a perfect place to relax and recharge the batteries.
Thanks man, appreciate it.
What area is that, looks really nice.
Be careful with Armadillo, they can carry leprosy.
Thanks man. It's on the St. Francis River, in the Ozark Mountain range, in the Mark Twain National Forest, Missouri.

Had no idea about that, with armadillos.

I love the pics and I love the swag. Your flask is my favorite.
It was hard not to just take photos of the flask and glass at home, haha. But I waited. Thanks man, I love that set. Probably won't take it with me too often, tbh, just because of all the rocks, and the breakability factor. I have new flasks I haven't posted yet.

I didn’t even know armadillos live in that area. For some reason I associated them with drier, desert areas.

Huh, learned something today...:)
I had no idea either. I saw a dead one along the highway, and was telling the wife that I swore I just saw a dead armadillo. We both doubted the sighting, until we started seeing more of them.

Being that I’m finally relaxing with my feet up, I started thinking about your cabin and how you had to weed whack for 5 hours or more.

Then my mind started wandering and calculating how many hours of our lives we spend cutting grass, weeds, brush, etc.

Then I realized I was doing math and I am relaxing and not required to work at this moment...and quit that nonsense immediately.
:)

I was wondering how many times I swung that damn thing back and forth. Right arm would get tired, and I would switch arms mid swing to keep the rhythm going. Wore me out. Got sun burned like crazy as well.
