Hi Folks well it has been a while since I shared anything about the classes going on at studio 4. I run one or two classes a month I recently added a new class called cable damascus, the project was to take a piece of cable and make a knife that has the cable as the handle. Each student would forge and heat treat 2 knives on Saturday and on Sunday we grind sand and etch the knives and just to keep things fun I offered them if they wanted to, the chance to unwrap and wrap in a piece of nickel foil, it gives the blade a nice little sparkle but adds to your chance of failure, as it is already very hard to forge a cable straight down into a blade and have no inclusions. I ran the class two weekends in a row 6 students in each class we all had a blast, learned a lot and I picked up a few new tricks in the first class so the success rate was higher in the second class. There were a few really great blades in each class, and a few with inclusions. Thank you Bill Buxton for the nice box of cable. cc1.jpg cc2.jpg cc3.jpg cc4.jpg cc6.jpg

The grinding class I took with Dave was great these classes look to be even better ( what's better that hot steel?maybe his stag handle class or Damascus or W2 :)). I would encourage anyone with the desire to check out the classes Dave offers.

Man, those are some really fine knives your class made my friend.... :)

Great job and don't have too much fun!!!!! :D

Thanks Karl Chris and Dudley, Karl it as fun Chris I look forward to having you in another class.

Impressive knives, you obviously have a great knack for teaching.
I would really like to take one of your classes, wish you were closer.

Very nice, obviously good instruction to produce those fine knives. I like the way you have your disk grinder set up.

David, Thanks for showing this to all. I too want to make it some day for one of your great classes. I can see they are very productive.
