I really wish I could post the pic, instead of a link to the web site. Do I really need to become a member to post pics? id gold, knifemaker, or what?

Anyway, I welded the billet at IG's place a couple of months ago, forged the blade shape out at home.

OAL is 6 3/8", with a 3 1/4" blade, handle is linen micarta (black) using mosaic pins.

What do ya think?

Not bad Larry. I would round over the handle more though. That Micarta is TOUGH stuff huh?

You have to be a member to upload links. Get a photobucket membership(free) and you can have them in your posts without joining. Hope I helped.

How did you Heat Treat the blade? What temp. did you temper at?

B. GOODE, the reason I didn't round the handle much is because it is rather small in dimension so I left the handle a little thick for better grip, as IG said it does fit the hand well. I use a vertical quench tank ala Dr. Jim "The Complete Bladesmith", after normalizing 3 cycles, I brought the blade up to non-magnetic and vertical quenched 2 cycles, tempered in the wifes toaster oven 1 1/2 hours at 350 and 1/2 hour at 400.

Mike, it's my EDC for now, I'm sure you'll see it one of these days at IG's (even if he doesn't want my there  :D ).

Larry, I like the cable too, nice pattern without all that folding and welding :D , cuts like a mutha.

You mean like this?

Here is what you have to do.

Find the picture you want to show.
Right click on the picture and select 'Properties'

In the middle there will be the 'Address (URL) information.

Put your cursor on that, left click and holding down the button copy all the text. Be sure to go to the right and down as oft times URL's are very long and you dont see all the information displayed then copy it (Ctrl + C)

Now, once on this forum, clicl the Yellow insert image square. A popup window will appear with http:// selected in blue. Dont de-select it, just press Ctrl+V and paste in the Address (URL) from the picture properties.

You will see a bunch of mumbo jumbo with [/IMG] at the start and the end. Once you submit the post the picture will be viewable for as long as it is being hosted on the server that it was copied from.

Hope this helps

I don't know (which is not unusual), but on the posting rules at the bottom of the page is says "I may NOT post attachments, so that explains that. What, did I do something wrong in a past life?

I can do something like what's above, this does not connect to my home page, but I cannot get the picture to post. The above blade is made with 5160, OAL 15 1/2" with a 9 1/4" blade, again linen micarta, and the wrought iron pommel and guard are bathing ferric chloride as i post this. :D

Its not an attachment, its a link to a picture hosted on another site, and thus, does not use any space on the server here. If it was an atachment it would show a paperclip in the forum view.

The picture I linked URL should read

groups.msn.com/_Secure/0TQDfAr0W0F3PhOEcYDweiYjnUwpUvNJozg5XCoS725UxEur5gBgsY1Z1FZPphivHffD4opbu11v4wDG9TN*SU6Nqs6g2XBpSXkvrnq7miKhr5dNdCyP3uw/PICT1312.JPG?dc=4675504988705156340 but with the http: stuff in front of it and bracketed by the IMG tags.

You see, there is a lot more than it looks like at first. Give it another go with a different image.
