hey yall!

this knife was commissioned by a freind of mine (price limit of $100 with cable.. but needing to be a using knife.. with hamon, with a jap. infulence)

so here is what i came up with:
http://picasaweb.google.com/Knifemaker87/CableTantoForMrTrue

the hamon was supposed to look like fire (he never said what it was to look like) so i was playing with it. came out pretty cool. the handle will be black linen micarta, with mosaic pins.

i'll post more pics when i finish it.
thanks for lookin!

100 bucks!!!
you have lucky friends dude.

Chris, my name is Mr True also, lol.

you and I need to discuss about my project soon.....;)

Chris, very nice. Make me one with a rising taper towards the butt instead of a flat butt. That will be a nice user with the micarta handle.

Chris, that blade simply ROCKS!!! You are doing great work, especially for a relatively new knife maker, and I am sure it will only get better and better. Keep at it, thanks, 47 Knuck

hey yall!
thanks so much! i hope to finish the knife tommorow.. and will post more pics.
i think i have been overheating my blades.. i got alot more delicate stuff in the blade than normal. like the little "flames" up in the hamon.

Mr true, where do you live? that would be the question! hehe...

John, what do you mean by "a rising taper instead of a flat taper" the butt does taper..both front to back AND top to bottom though the top to bottom taper is very slight.

*grins* well.. i was just gonna make a simple knife.. but i figured i could use the learning time.. so.. i just had fun! i was gonna have to do the work anyway.. might as well to a good job.. right? here is a picture

Chris that's a SWEET looking blade... can't wait to see the finished product. I'm going to have to get one of your works here in the near future...

Great last name you have... perhaps we're related... lol...

Hi Chris, I was not clear. I mean as you look at the blade profile, it would look like a boat with a pointy prow and a upward curving bow, like you see in some Japanese knives, rather than having a flat butt. I like the look and feel of micarta. I really like the micarta tsuba on my knife.

Why did I look at this? That was had for only $100? Indeed, you have lucky friends. I am sure that I would do the same, though...
