I love my new CABS and expect it to be my #1 outdoor carry knife. I really want to get a sheath I'm totally happy with. I have an assortment of leather, Kydex and nylon sheaths for other knives, but none of them really seem "just right" to me. I'm still looking for the perfect sheath.

Most of my time outside, hunting or hiking, I use a daypack. I can carry my knife in a belt sheath and prefer a 3/4- or mid-ride drop-loop (or TechLok) type. But there are other times when I'm wearing a backpack or waistpack and the waist belt prevents me from wearing a normal belt sheath. I've tried TechLok-equipped sheaths that I can remove from my belt and put on the pack's belt, but I don't care for that approach.

I'm interested in a sheath with a removable or fold-away extended drop loop that would allow it to be used in either situation.

Does anyone have such a sheath they'd post a photo or two of? I'm interested in seeing what's out there....

Thanks,
desmobob

Look at Martin Swinkles. I plan to get one of his sheaths for my CABS.

I've got a Chuddy Bear drop loop coming down the pipe for my CABS. I'll be sure to post a layman's review once I receive it.

Mashed Cat sheaths are Kydex sheaths. I can add a removable nylon drop loop that uses a velcro closure so you do not need to undo/remove your belt.

The pictures on the web site show 4 screws holding the drop loops on, but now I have gone to just two for ease of reversing to left or right side carry.

Mine's currently riding in a $10 leather sheath I picked up at Blade 2009. I like kydex for this knife - Brig it Eric

I think the CABS deserves some of Martin Swinkels work. He doesn't have one though and I don't want to ship mine to the European Union!

should have it tomorrow(stuck at the PO). I took a trip to Idaho, I saw a perfect example of one.
I can not wait.

This is my one for my SCABS. I made it myself.

I used 0.06" kydex for this to complement the lean blade. 3/16" rivets to keep the profile down, except for 2 1/4" eylets that take a Tek-Lok. Currently I have my BeesWax Leather Belt loop attached where the Teky can go.

Its a good blade on the belt.

Looks good. I know your Kydex sheaths are top-notch... I have six or seven of them so far. :)

Can the drop loop be used at the same time as a large TekLok? (Can I leave it attached when using the TekLok on my belt, and vice-versa?)

Hello Mr. Brown... I'm familiar with the fine quality of your Kydex sheaths, having a couple in my knife drawer. :D

I had checked your web site but didn't see any kind of add-on drop loop options. Would you PM me a quote for a brown, OD, or digital ACU fold-over Busse CABS sheath that could be worn on an extended drop loop and/or on the belt via TekLok? (preferably without having to add/remove anything to change options)

Thanks very much,

Wow! I checked out his work. That is some impressive stuff. I wish he was in the US.
Be sure to post photo of your CABS sheath when you get it.

This is the sheath for my Satin Jack with the drop loop from Martin Swinkels. Turn around time wasn't bad, and the price was definitely worth it. Im thinking something similar for the CABS, but in black or grey leather/kydex, and set up for IWB instead.

Its either this or one of David Browns kydex sheath, maybe in the carbon fiber kydex, also set up for IWB. If you could Mr. Brown, could you please PM me with your price and turnaround time for this? Thanks

Dave

I suppose if you wanted to leave the TekLok attached to the sheath while the loop was in use, you could move the TekLok closer to the tip of the knife to allow the loop to be worn too.
