Reckon some of ya'll will remember this Cactus Rose Bowie Gib and I did a while back. As most know my big thing is doing sheaths so I was a surprised when this one sold without a sheath. The buyer - another knifemaker! - planned on sending it back for a sheath, but then some unforeseen money problems cropped up and he was forced to sell it. Well a couple of ya'll pointed the new owner my way and lo and behold I got it back to do the sheath. Had a plan in mind all the time for the sheath, but when I got it back that changed some what and any way her it is - Hope ya'll enjoy the 'other half' to this Bowie -
And for those he may not have seen the original post of the knife or just for a refresher here's a blade shot -
The idea behind the sheath was the same as for the knife - a "whiteman's" rig that an Indian got a hold of and decorated it up. The lower half of the veg-tan sheath is wrapped with a rawhide "repair" which I decorated with brass tacks and edge beading. At the top is a panel of smoke tanned buckskin which was fully beaded by my better half Linda. Tin cones, brass and glass beads and twisted fringe finishes off the deco.
John - sorry you didn't get the keep this one, but thanks to you and Keith I got it back to sheath - hope Jack like it as much as I do.
