I don’t know how to use CAD nor do I have the software. However, I do have acrylic templates for all of my patterns. Is there anyone I could send my templates to and have a CAD drawing done for each of them? I’m assuming that waterjet services won’t do this.

Every time I used a waterjet service they did the patterns at no charge provided I did a Min amount
Your millage will vary depending on the companies min charge per inch/time $ etc
Live in a big city but most towns have a waterjet service somewhere Try local and give em a call

Can you scan the templates on a flatbed scanner? That would make it relatively easy to convert. There is free software that you could use, i.e., inkscape. Just import the scan and then trace the outline with a Bezier curve. There are automatic tools, but I have not found one yet that produces good results.

How many templates are we talking about? I'd be happy to do a few for you if you send me the scans.

Take a picture of your pattern and send it to JT - I think that'll work, but JT is the one to say for sure. Wait, JT doesn't do waterjet.... but again, that's a question for JT to answer. Is it Plasma Cutting that JT does? Wouldn't that work rather than waterjet?

Thanks

Hubert. I have about 10-12 I use the most. I’ll see if I can find anybody local or will also check with NJ steel baron and see if they can do it. I don’t even have a computer anymore so Doing it myself is out of the question for now. I might take you up on doing a couple if I can’t find anyone to do them all.

Matt, I hope you are safe. I saw on the news there was a tornado near Seneca. I'm near Columbia and luckily there was no storm damage where we are, but a few of my colleagues are still out of power and there are a lot of trees down.

I don't know if there are many waterjet companies in SC, but there are three laser cutting outfits near Columbia. I would be interested to know what you can find locally.

Thanks buddy. It came right over my house and then touched down. Lots of damage and most of the Southwest side of town is without power. I’ll update when I figure out what I’m going to do.

Lee over at heart of Texas metalworks will do it for free and does blanks for multiple knife makers in the business. He’s done stuff for me and can do it with just a sketch of what you want done. Will also provide the CAD to you if you ask.
