Looks good, relatively inexpensive (especially when it is paid for by a gift card) Very light weight, very happy with it.

Is is normal for the nail file to lightly rub against the main blade when opened? I realize I could open the blade first and then the file but I'm just curious.

Thanks!

Good pick up - Excellent knife!- I like 'em and have a few for backups. Yes, seems normal to have the file "rub". If i remember from previous threads, not all specimens have the "rub", but seems many do. Others will chime in. I don't worry about it at all.

I love the Cadet. I've bought three of them in 09', gifted one to my father and am looking to buy more in 2010. Love all those colors. It's a great slicer too.

It's a thin knife. My file rubs the blade too, but it's so minor I hadn't even noticed it until reading your post and checking mine. I wouldn't worry about it.

The Cadet is great. Thin and small, but the tools are big enough to be useful. I've got two of them, one silver and the other red.

If i remember from previous threads, not all specimens have the "rub", but seems many do.

True, both my Cadets also have that "rub". There is a retired version of the Cadet which doesn't, it has a small blade instead of the nail file. I think that one doesn't have the "rub", but I don't mind it very much.

I picked up a Green Alox Cadet here in the exchange a year ago. I have carried it probably more than any other knife this past year. My daughter came home for Christmas from GA. and during her visit mentioned she wanted to start carrying a pocket knife. Not too big and it needs to be non tactical looking were her requirements. I told her to take a look in the knife cabinet and take what she wanted. She came out and said I want this one. My Green Alox Cadet. I could see on her face she really liked the Cadet. What could I do? I told her that knife is really used and she replied "by you"? "Of coarse" I said. "It's the one I want", was her response. What could I do? I took it and tossed a near perfect edge on it and gave back to her. She gave me smile and a BIG hug and off she went. The next day I was at Target with the wife looking for some PS3 stuff and my wife walked up and handed me plastic package with a Silver Alox Cadet in it for $17.99. never saying a word. Life is good!:D
