i took possession of my Caffrey Progression folder today..and i must say that blademan 13 was absolutely correct..this folder has one of the most indvidualistic characters of any folder i have laid eyes on...from the deep blue ti thumb bobs and pocket clip to the rainbow stippling of the liners and back of the blade..this knife stands alone..the blade is one of awe-inspiring beauty...no fancy damascus or exotic stainless steel just, 52100 forged the way it is supposed to be...i owe thanks to alot of BF members here for opening my mind and eyes..

the tactical folders of today are beginning to blur, because they share so many common characteristics they are becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish..not the Progression folder!

TO SUM IT UP:
Ed Caffrey's Progression folder may not be a heavy-duty, high-tech folder capable of cutting your way out of the jungles of africa..but, it sure as hell is classy, with a "so simple its brilliant design", made with painstakingly incredible skill with the effort to please!

this baby must be held, fondled and viewed in person to be truly appreciated..

thanks, Ed.

Glad you like the knife so much Jerry. I love reading about how someone thinks the knife they just got is wonderful. Ed Caffrey's knives are magnificent and I am not the least bit surprised by how much you like this one.

Well, I have had a Progression II on order since last fall--that's when blademan 13 posted some really great pictures. The knife is due next week and this post is getting the juices flowing again!
UD, how did you manage to persuade BM 13 to sell his:rolleyes:

Barry H,
i didn't...blademan 13 wouldn't part with that knife for anything (i tried) but, i got the incredible knife man from florida (i think his name was larry) to work his magic..

i will tell you one thing..you will love it..it is as good as an EDC as one can have for general office carry and usual cutting chores..

besides that, when you pull it out and open it..that cloudy blade looks REALLY cool and gets a lot of..."man, what is that?" or "hey, that is a cool looking blade" from people around you..the ladies like the blue ti thumb balls too..:D

i rotate duncan, chew and hall for extreme duty and the caffrey and fredericks for office carry!

Barry, I'm shocked that you would even think that I would get rid of such a beauty! After next week I am sure you will see why :p

Thanks all for the kind words and nice comments. It means a great deal when folks like what your doing, and in my case just makes me want to work that much harder to make the best knives I can.

Dan,
i borrowed this picture from Blademan 13..
hope he doesn't mind...
looks like mine except the entire back of my blade is fileworked..:D

Sorry, Jamie! I didn't mean to insinuate anything, I guess my mind was playing tricks on me--thought for a moment that may be you were selling yours.
By the way, Ed C called me Sunday afternoon that the knife is done--so I am due Wes or Thurs.!!
I'll be sure to report back after I get it!

Nice knife! Wait a minute, that's my knife ;) No problem at all Jerry!

Barry, just yankin' your chain a little. You gotta be getting pumped about now. Just make sure you check back in here with us and give us an update once you get your new toy. Godd things come to those that wait

What kind of blade grind do we got here fellas? It is hard for me to tell by the photos.
Greg

my blade is ground VERY thin and SCARY sharp..i cut my index finger by just lightly applying pressure to the blade, without any back and forth action!

i was treating the blade with BOESHIELD T-9..since i live on the east coast near the beach..i am interested in how the knife will hold up in this VERY humid climate..
