Just posting because I had pictures . . .

Love both knives . . .I keep the Bahadur on me while hunting and hiking, but will keep the CAK in a pack or in the truck if I suspect a lot of heavy work.

bgz101, yep the Bahadur is my go to hiking blade too.
Sunday after New Years I took my son out hiking and a 6" diameter tree fell victim to it in a little under a minute. This was about the look on my son's face
Is that a 20" CAK?

Yeah that Bahadur is perfect. It can do so much chopping but I've skinned deer with it and it worked great. It's a great compromise between a 'big knife' and a 'small knife' in many ways.

That CAK is 17.5in and 34 oz . . . . I love it!

I'm new to large blades. I love the looks of your Bahadur. I'm not quite sold on the cone shaped handles of most Khurkis and really dig the way the handle is shaped.

Who makes the Bahadur, and were can I buy one?

Thank You

Welcome blade54!
H.I. makes the bahadur knife and you can buy one right here, when one comes up for sale in a DOTD (Deal Of The Day) thread.
Please take time to read all the stickies at the top of the forum for all the information you need about khukuri, as well as how to order. Please also make sure you read the safety sticky. Enjoy yourself and make friends.

Glad to have you with us blade54. By "cone shaped handles" I'm assuming that you're referring to the flare at the butt. It does look a little odd to our western eyes but it is remarkably ergonomic. Once you get it in hand and use it, it makes sense...except for the occasional need to take a file to the buttcap edges or the points.

The "BRAVE TIGER" Knife is the most useful "KNIFE" that HI makes.

Before anybody howls...

I said "KNIFE" not Khukuri.

Some of you guys will not like this, because HI does several very good knives.

But,for all-around knife that will do anything you need...this is IT!

You need to baton anything, the blade is perfect as a draw knife, it has a big belly fo skinning or chopping.

It is straight enough to be used as a defensive tool.

It is crooked enough to give amazing chopping power.

The handle is made so that you can use the traditional forward grip, but to chop you can slide your hand back and use an extended grip. (This gives a seriously strong, powerful chopping grip.)

A good leather thong to secure it during heavy use, and you have THE ONE KNIFE, KNIFE BATTERY.

And that; as they say, is that.

Oh, just because I say it, does not make it true. What makes it true, are the guys who made it, and the person who designed it. I am only pointing out the obvious and confirming it.

The one thing I don't understand is the area immediately in front of the handle, on the edge side of the blade. Why is there "a hook" right there? It must have been a job of work to file this away. It would be even better if they left that section there, or at least make it a semi-circle "choil", for those who like to choke up.

blade54, Karda is right read the stickies especially the one on blade safety! The handle on the khukuri takes some getting used to but practice makes perfect. There are about 3 or 4 (or more) grip positions you can take with a Khukuri and depending on the hit you want to make I occasionally change grips to accommodate a certain angle.
bgz101, the lines on your 17.5" are sweet its about the same rough spec's as my M43. My 20"AK tipping the scales at 38oz is about as large as I want to go it hits about as hard as an axe. I would try a heavier one if given the opportunity but it would probably be too heavy to be useful to me.
Gonna have to make some baldric rigs so I can bring some of my bigger blades deeper into the woods. My Bahadur can do some chopping but the M43 and 20"AK will "make trees pee":D
